Watched last night. They were comapring the promised speed of the four high speed ISPs. Rogers, Telus, Shaw and Bell. Rogers came out first with 92% of their promised speed to the customers. Followed by Shaw, TElus and Bell. Bell came out with 16% of the promised speed (here it was 7 mbps). The host (Erica Johnson) was talking to the tech support in Bell abt this. They guy was trying to sell her higher speed rathre than looking at the present problem. Erica met with the VP of consumer internet service of Bell. The VP gave very vague answers and ran away after few minutes. Bell had promised 7 mbps but was delivering less than 2 mbps to the customer.

So check out your Bell Sympatico connection. Call the tech support and ask them what is the actual speed coming to your line. I have Bell and now I understand what this is all abt. I need to hcange to Rogers. Tech support an dcustomer service of Bell is bad. Some of them cant speak English properly and hard to understand what th ey say due to accent and speed with which they talk.

DIO,
Thanks a ton for the information.
I have Bell Sympatico High SPeed but the speed of my interet is very very slow. It is almost like Dial up. I made the mistake of switching from Rogers and recenltly Primus to Bell Bell customer service people that I have spoken to are Gora's and most of them beg to have them to be kept on service whenever I call them That is the reason why I still canot cancel useless services to better oes.
Primus was good too. Their $20 Ibteret was way faster thab the $50 ($5 Surcharge for not being in a contract) a month that I am paying right now

You can try teksavvy. http://www.teksavvy.com" rel="nofollow">LINK - Its a small DSL provider based in Ontario and have very good reviews on http://www.dslreports.com." rel="nofollow">LINK Also, you pay only $30 for the 5MBps service for which Bell charges $45 / $49. Furthermore, no contracts and good customer service.

Mind you, if your home is away from the Central Office (CO), you are bound to get slow speeds no matter what DSL provider you use. You can ask the DSL provider about the distance from the CO and expected speeds.

Ash

PS: I am not an agent. I have heard good things about them and am in the process of switching from Bell.

A friend of mine defends Bell big time. Later I came to know that his wife works for it. He told me that they get 35% off on all the Bell products and services. No wonder others have to pay more.

BTW, how many ordinary janata know abt central office? I did not know abt it till I saw the program last night. Bell wont tell u abt it upfront till asked.

Yes, This is True for DSL ...

Incase of DSL the distance from CO maters. It may not be the Problem but definitely contributing factor.

BTW the top rated provider Rogers (according to your original post) grants the employees with a 50% discount on any and all Rogers products / services.
