I went to France and Spain last year. Spent about a week and a half for the duration of the trip.

Itinerary was as follows: Flew into Lyon, France - beautiful city in France...definitely recommended over Paris. Rented a car at the airport then drove to the south of France to Nice, Cannes and Monaco. This is a beautiful scenic drive and the coast once you hit the south of France (Cote d'azur) is simply breathtaking.

From there we drove to Barcelona. Amazing city with tons of places to see including the amazing Sagrada Familia church.

There is tons of things to see and do in Europe and I wouldn't rush to see it all. Take your time to enjoy the history and the culture and the sights/scenery. We have booked Italy this year for 2 weeks (Venice, Rome, Florence, Tuscany) and this alone would takes up the full two weeks.

If you are driving be wary of the tolls and gas. It is quite pricey and make sure you account for this in your budget.

Food wise you don't have too much to worry about. There are plenty of options for us vegetarians.

Internal flights in Europe are really cheap. Check out Ryanair.

Hope this helps a bit.

Guys,
Atlast it has become a reality.
In a fit of enthu. I have booked flight tickets to London. I leave on the 13th and come back on the 23 rd. I leave by Air Transat. Tickets are around $750 (round trip). I land it Gatwick. I stay at Kent (Cantebury).
I would like to see as many parts of Europr as possible incl. Paris and other european destinations. It is sort of unplanned but I am on the internet now and trying to see how I can make use of the time to see max. places with a tight budget.
Driving would have been the most simplest form to travel but since the British are left handed, I am afraid to drive.
Any pointers appriciated.

Peace

On a sidenote,
Does any one know where to park the Car before flying at a place acessible from the airport?
Park and fly is asking $100 where was Skyway park is asking $80 (for 9 days). Both have shuttle bus service to the airport.
Does any one know of Parking near the Kipling subway area for a lot less and then catching the bus to the terminal?
Kipling subway station does not allow over night parking at all and I was ticketed once for parking on a Canadian tyre store near Kipling station and then going to the citizenship / oath area for just 10 mins..
Will there be any problem if I park my car in some secluded road side where there is no mention of Parking restrictions? Will it stay without being towed for 9 days? I am currently staying away from the GTA and hence taxi / bus from home to Airport will cost a lot more. Also I donot have access to any friends who can drop me off.
Appricate your inputs.

Peace

Hey TK ,

It wont be difficult to drive on the opposite side ( if you really have to drive in UK or Ireland ) ....

but rest of the mainland Europe driving is same as in N .

Also keep in mind that driving will exhaust you so better take public transport . Only consider driving if there are no other option .

Have Fun.
