Hi guys
Sorry i could nt put this in my previous topic as it's altogether a different topic.
Could any of our CD's advice as to how i should pack my baby's lugguage (5 months old) for 6 weeks stay in India with enfamil boxes and Diapers.
I have heard that Diapers in India are not good in quality and enfamil a+ is not easily available in and around chd area.
1. Can i take another a small seperate diaper box (pre packed) along with the 10kg allowed baggage for a baby.
2. Suggest me the ways to ideally pack them with normal clothes and other baby's imp. stuff (keeping in mind the flight regulations of Air france (10 kg baby lugguage)
3. sugguest me other imp. stuff recommeded to carry apart from advil, diapers, baby toys, and feed.
thanks guys

Though Air France says that you can carry upto10 kg luggage for the baby, they will not allow more than a small size bag (Available in Walmart in Baby section for Baby goods). If the check in staff is picky, then they will charge you extra. We took the same 10 kg. but a big bag. They threatened to put it up as extra luggage and then later allowed it free. Also inside the flight they will not allow you to put this in the aisle.
Book the bassinet / seat nos. by calling the Air france office. You are allowed to book the seat nos. by phone and is recommeneded to do so instead of coming to the airport early.
When we went to India we took 20 tins of enfamil (for 6 months) and it took 2 suitcases. If the child is used to enfamil and is a picky infant, it is wise to carry enfamil from here but it is your call. otherwise local milk powder is avialable in plenty from India. Cow's milk is not recommneded to be given till year 1.
In India, even in a village you will get everything. Diapers are low quality there (in villages) and hence take diapers from Here. Baby wipes and olive oil is good in India. It is up to you to take it.
For feeding, I would suggest that you take 2 flasks of hot water and the about 10 baby nipples. Use the type of feeding bottle (i forgot the name) which is open at the bottom and over which you wrap a plastic to pour the milk. After the child drinks it, the plastic is thrown away and you need to just clean the nipple. It saves a lot of hassle rather than cleaning the nipple and bottle each time. Be careful of Air france staff. The only help they do is heat up your water and they always over heat it.
Take the infant to the pediatrician to check for ear infection atleast 5-7 days before the day of departure. if the child has ear infection (smell the ear and if it gives a bad smell, good chances are that the ear is infected). If you travel with the child's ear infections, there is a good chance that the ear drums of the infant will burst due to the pressure. Antibiotices require atleast 3 days to have effect. Also the pediatrician will give hepatitis injection (cost of the injection is to be borne by you) if you tell him that the baby is travelling to India. Carry the injection / incoculation chart of the baby to India and ask the doctor in India to fill it up for the 6 th month vaccination. It is valid in Canada when you come back. Some people put BCG injection in India for the infant (it is not available in Canada).
Take the stroller with you . It will be taken away from your by the air hostess just before you enter the plane and will be given back when you exit the plane.
It will help you a lot.
Hope it helps.

you really provided me with such a detailed info. I was aware of lots of things but still i got to know too many other imp. tips. I really appreciate that.
Also for others if they have any other suggestions that agrees or dis-agree to the above tips pls. share that with us. As everybody among us would be happy to be updated and eager to learn those better tips and neccessaties for baby travel especially when they are < 1 yr.

Hi,
TK gave you very good advice on all the things, one thing I wanted to add was that make sure at the time of landing and taking off your baby is sucking something (mother's milk or bottle). The air pressures are mainly high at landing and taking off time and it is advised to give kids, elders something to chew (chewing gums etc). For small babies put them on bottle.
In India don't use the Bisleri or any other bottled water for baby feed, never boil it. Boil the normal tap water and filter with clean-cotton clothes.
Hope this helps........
