Hello,
Can any one advice me on what I should do for my son's PIO card now that his canadian passport is renewed (new passport) and now that his name change is official.
He still posesses a valid PIO card, but I have to include his new passport number.
We tried calling the indian consulate, but the lines always busy. Also someone told us that we can have the new passport number endorsed on his PIO card but no one knows what to do about the name change.
Please advice
I wouldn't bother about it. My son's PIO card still has the old passport number (and old address too). Never had any issue.I carry the old passport also with me, just in case.
You mentioned name change being official. If you need to change the name in PIO card, then you need to apply for that.
You can email the consulate - visa section. Normally they get back pretty soon. I always got the response in a day or two. In odd cases, there may not be any reply at all - When I initially enquired about the OCI - before the process became all clear, I never got a response - May be they also were not clear.
Viggy - thanks for your post
I did email the consulate with all my queries - I just got a one liner to come to the embassy....
I must admit though that I am not worried about his new passport number. We can get that easily endorsed on the PIO card - no charge.
I am more worried about his name change. That too its not his full name change, we've just added to his name our family name. I wonder if that will make any difference??
Should we just go ahead without any amendments to the PIO?
