Thank you Freakoutguy for sharing your opinion .
I like Brampton because of its slightly rural settings and less congestion ..... Plus one goes grocery shopping once a week and even lesser for other things such as doctor etc ....... Extra commute time is also acceptable to me as long as I can enjoy peace of neighborhood ....
Something which I have heard and which concerns me is the growing numbers of Blacks ...... though I do not have anything against anyone but is crime a growing concern in Brampton generally .......... I was under the impression that a closed residential court / block away from high rises should be a safe neighborhood ....
Comments please ....

Fido, where do you live in Brampton? Can you please tell the major intersection?
Thanks
I have lived in Brampton for a month last year near Dixie - William Parkway ... but I felt that areas upwards on Dixie towards Boviard to be more serene.
Either it is a place which I have envisaged in my short stay or maybe I have a mis impression ........... trying to figure out .

ANother question:
Is it better to buy a detached house which is 20 yrs old but roof, furnance, driveway, bathrooms, kitchen etc has been redone, has a swimming pool, fireplace OR to buy a town-house which is around 5 yrs old.

Just moved from jersey - living at drinkwater - so far so good. most of desis I met wanted me to go to mississauga warning me that I'll only meet ileterates in Brampton . I couldn't be convinced becuase
- when asked specific reasons - no one could define exactly why miss. was better
- the only two families I knew from before - both live in Brampton - had kids passed out of schools and look fine - both families are doing very well financialyy too and I'd think if they didn't like Brampton they could move out faster than anyone else but they have no issues with brmptn
- the properties were about 30-50k higher in miss. - to me it made no sense when I was getting an excellent house in a good location
maybe miss. has more white collared, maybe as someone else in forum said - crime is lower!! but I couldn't find any hard evidence so I'd say this if you highly class conscious and must keep up with jonses - buy in miss.
as for the other thread 20 yr old house Vs Townhome - personal choice BUT I'd rather stay in house than in townhome - if you don't see more than regular expenses on the detached house go for it.

CD s ,
How s the area around Queen / Dixie towards Howden (Bramlea ) as far as neighborhood is concerned ? Is it good , bad or ok ?
Appears to be busy with a couple of high rises ........ How are the schools in this area .......... ?

Since, this area is bang opposite Bramalea City Center and Chingacousy Park, it is pretty busy. If you are somebody who dislikes traffic, then it might not be ideal. Although, it is a very convenient location as everything is closeby. Due to the presence of rental buildings in the area, there is a transient populace. Schools are not the best due to low income families. There was a murder very close to Howden where a teen was killed for his cell phone in 2007.

It would be best to look for homes a couple of intersections north around the Bovaird area.
