Dear CD's,
I was approached by a North Indian desi who lives outside of the GTA to buy her small hard green mangoes ( in the size of a lemon) so that she could make pickles at home.
I had searched many Indian shops and chinese shops but still could not find the same. The closest one that I could find was at a chinese shop at Rexdale mall (which was around the size of 3 small lemons- the size which was rejected by the north indian lady saying that she needs a smaller one).
Does any CD knows where this can be found?
Thanks in advance (TIA)

TK A

Ask that Desi lady to go to Indian Store and buy bottled mango pickle. First you search for mangoes then masala for achar and then you look out for sun and warm temperature for it to cure (I assume that she looking everything orginial and heating in the house she would not prefer).

Gosh, people have so much time for these things. Ask her to put energy in something else.

BTW: I know there is one shop in Yukon that sells mangoes she is looking for.

String Magos are available once every year at an Indian store situated at the west side of HWY 10 and Hwy 5 intersection and on the south side. Contact them or order a substantial quantity and leave your contact details with them and they will provide you with a supply when they arrive. But take a chance as they sell out the minute they appear.
There is another supplier that I have contacted and yet to hear from them, Their location is at Dennison and Markham? I will confirm after verifying in person. The supply season starts in April, that is what I heard.

It makes my mouth water. Mmmm....

Freddie.

Yes, I also tried to make achar at home.....bought keri and then masala (readyamde though) and mixed....was good as not too time consuimg but a dift taste.

Why u say people have so much time and put energy in sthg dift...cooking can be a hobby for someone and they might be doing this as a part of relaxation....or even if not, everyone enjoys when they eat tasty so ....someone in the world has to cook that tasty food...right or wrong ? what if all of us put our energy somewhere else ?

pl do not take in other sense ...but do not put less value to someone who cooks.

I know what you mean. I dont understand people actually have time to reply ... that too a Reply which has nothing to do with original query. Gosh, some people !

BTW, that lady could be a Grand Mother - trying to give that extra & make extra special.

I drive 10 hours to eat such home made pickle made by my Grand Mother. Forget drive, I am going to Fly to eat.

Thanks for your reply

I believe you must have understood why people reply or have time to reply to a query even if it has nothing to relate with original query.
