Hi All CD's
Today i got worst situation from State Farm Insurance co. I upgrade my coverage from Comprehensive coverage to Full coverage on 11/29/2007. They quote me on phone for $191.96 for my Car+house with 500 dollar deductible. After 3 months i.e. today they told me your insurance is now $199.35 instead of $191.96 and they told me to pay last three months difference of premium. Than i asked why you people asked me to pay more money after three months when you already took out payment from my account last three months with $ 191.96. Than they given me answered that we are not able to update my files last three months but now your premium will be $199.35.
Now here is story whatever they send it to me my insurance policy with full coverage still showing old figure of amont. When i went with one of agent in mississauga than they answered me sometime it takes time to change policy. than i asked question to her."why you people taking less money as permium last three months?" and now asking me to pay more with any reason? than she did not have any answer. and told me you can go anywhere or you can talk with your lawyer there is no fault from ourside.
Here is my question
1. Is it taking too long to update file in insurance company (three months)?
2. Whaterver answer she given me is it appropriate?
3. should i contact to Consumer court or some kind of organisation?
One important thing i have all paper work with me, where clearly shows that they send me documents with old price and they charged me more money.
Please advice i will be very thankful in these matter.
Hi RBO,
I think this is routine with State Farm. Happened to me initially when I started with them, I got 4 different premium notices in 4 months and I was so confused. But finally everything settled down after 6 months and now I am happy with them..
The only attitude I dont like about thier service is they always advice you to cancel and take your policy elsewhere if you have a problem, instead of answering the issue. But otherwise I have always heard good things about thier assistance in the times when you need help with claims...hence decided to stick with them.
I believe there is hardly you can do anything about it.
Rgds,
Hiren
Hmm... So I am not the only one! I was thinking it was an 'exception' in my case since they were pulling my US records thru State Farm's US division - which I am told is a different company and cannot freely exchange information due to some laws!
Anyways when I had more issues with my Mississauga agent, I moved my files to a Brampton agent, who is doing good. I am quite happy with this new agent. Funny part is, I couldn't even move my file to any another agent within Mississauga as all of them belong to some same group or so and no one was entertaining my complaints.
Thanks you very much Hiren and Viggy for your reply.
Atleast now i am not going to worry........ otherwise in these country if you are not sure, ask someone and clear your doubts, so it can prevent for future issues.
Thanks a lot............

Hi viggy,
I have similar problem with state farm, so I want to change/move to another state farm Ins agent, as you specified in the brampton agent is helpful, is it possible to provide brampton agent contact info, so that I can contact him.
I have send you a message with his info.
Process wise, you will need to initiate the transfer. You need to contact the regional office and request them to transfer your files. They will send you a form for you to sign and return and Once they transfer, you get a letter from the regional office. The new agent will also call you. It takes 3-4 weeks!
