Is there a good place to learn french as a second language...somthing similar to the ESL programs run by the govt? I am looking to spend some of my time in learning french somwhere in Peel region. I know there are couple of private institutes that give french lessons but I am not particularly thrilled about spending money on learning french
If you google you will find many sites where you can learn to speak or read French and for free.
The one that i use is http://www.loquella.com/learn-french/ coz theyhave audios too.
Happy Learning!
Try the libraries in Brampton. I used to give rudimentary lessons in French way back at the libe next to Bramlea City centre and at the libe at Queen St near main street.
The lessons were for free for the students (I was paid by Peel region). I don't know if they still have the programs. Adults used to come wednesdays and saturdays -the rest of the days they were basically to reinforce the instruction in schools for middle and high school pupils.
Check them out. I am saying Brampton 'cos your location says brampton.
Please note that these lessons would not by any stretch of the imagination make you proficient in the language. I do know some adults who would say it helped them navigate in Quebec and understand the road signs etc.
Franchement je pense que c'est une grande perte de temps- ca sert a rien. Enfin, selon le gout de chacun.
Thanks investpro, I will visit the library and check out any possible programs.

Try the website livemocha.com
You can learn French, German, Spanish or Chinese and tutor Hindi to whoever needs it. There are lots of self study lessons available as well.
