My wife was Gestational during both her pregnancies. Don't worry, centre will tell you and inform you everything and will answer all your Queries. What to do and what not to do. They will see if they can keep it to acceptable level through Diet if not then only option they have is Saline Shots with diet.

BTW, Dietician will show you Roti Size, Bowl Size for Dal, Rice & Sabzi. How much Milk, Juice, how many pieces of Fruits everything will be listed. It will be difficult but will keep you and baby good.

Unfortunitely my wife is not here in Canada right now, otherwise I would have asked her to talk to you. If you still want to talk to her to get an Idea let me know, she is not far - just opposite side of the globe, in India.

I am 32 weeks pregnant, i was diabetic before, so I have to get 4 times insulin per day around 100 units all together. I am very active, i used to walk on threadmill and walked a lot. If u follow the diet and exercise properly you dont have to worry, but one thing keep in mind, have an anti slip mat in your bathroom and drink lots of water and milk. And also monitor your sugar every two hours after meals. It should be below 6.7 and fasting sugar should be below 5.7. Good luck

You may consider limiting your milk intake. MIlk has natural sugars in it..which affect blood sugar levels even though it is considered a low glycemic food product.

Try to avoid starches and eat fibre rich food like whole grain breads and cereals. Read nutritional information on packaging..and avoid foods that are called "low fat"..or "sugar free". These tend to have wheat added to make them low fat. You may wish to eat things like :rye bread, pumpernickel, squirrely bread, flax seed..or sprouted grain bread.

Traditionally fatty foods such as butter, mayonnaise, cream (heavy cream )..are OK for diabetics because they dont have any carbohydrates..or very negligible amounts. limit: carrots, peas, Potatoes, tomatoes.

Fruits as well: try to avoid very juicy fruits..as they have more natural sugars.

Raw carrots are okay and have low glycemic index. They should not be put in the same list with potatoes and peas!
