Does anybody have a mirroring S/W they can share? Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image...or any other? I want to use it once and dont wish to spend $50~$100 on a new S/W...

Anyone?

:)

Pls try this link http://www.filesland.com/software/mirror-image.html

Are you referring to EASEUS? Have you tried it personally? It is difficult to 'TRY' when you are working with OS and backups. Any issues and we lose the current system as well.
Thats the reason I am looking for ACRONIS which comes with a lot of online recommendations.
Thanks for sharing anyways.

Thanks for sharing anyways.

I use Acronis for corporate work. My license to it is owned by the corporation so I can't share it. However, you can download LATEST version of HIREN BOOT CD (is that your name Mister?) and it has a few older versions (still work fine) Acronis, Ghost and others...

You can boot with Hiren CD and toggle into the right category and go from there. You need two partitions so you could image one and store the image to the other; if you don't it would help if you have a USB HDD. If not, you will have to use Acronis from Hiren and CREATE a secure zone first and then make the image of the active partition into the secure zone.

In any case, you will have to thoroughly maintain the active partition first: do chkdsk /f and delete all the junk files, maintain registry, AND clean up the partition and defrag. What are junk files? System mechanic is very good at finding those for you; it can also maintain registry. Delete these files: make your hidden files shown (folder options followed by file options), and delete ALL files with $.......$ (in the dotted area you will see a bunch of text), then delete in WINDOWS folder everything in Servicepack files, if you have IE8 but you had IE7 before, delete IE7 folders, in IE8updates, delete ALL files... the more unnecessary junk you delete, the smaller the footprint you get for the image and the faster your machine will run after maintenance.

for windows XP:
system mechanic
Tuneup Utilities

For Vista:
Vista Manager 3.0.6 is best
For Vista systems: compcln.exe run from the console window or run command will take care of the system bloat due to updates

For both OS above:
Malware Bytes and Registry Cure help take care of registry errors and keyloggers

For Windows 7:
I am testing this but not sure what is out there to maintain them
