Please don't feel sorry for her Ashu ..do you think you can ever in your remotest dreams do such an insain act.
What she did is not something any average Indian would do whatever conditions we may be living in (so she should stop cying out loud 'i'll kill you'phrase being a part of'culture' coz its not!).
She got over enthusiastic and went overboard making such stupid statements which indicate insanity on her part!
Ashu he must have eaten those Gulab Jamuns(may be after getting them tested in lab!!!).
Hmmmm its been a long time i made those..will make them today...would you care for some and you better say yes or else you know what Neelam Vir can do!!!!

I was driving today morning listening to 1010 Am morning show by Bill Caroll when he spoke about this issue. I was surprised to hear it. He was supporting the woman (since she is an immigrant and naturally Canadians donot want to be seen as comdemning an immigrants). He said that McGunity took the e-mail too far. He specifically asked Desi Immigrants to call about the issue. 3 desi immigrants called. 1 supported her while 2 were against it.
Regarding GIts Mix. If it is a mix, it is available for a $ at all desi shops (she would have been a real nut case to have got a 1 $ gift to the premier). Even When I buy it, I sweat a lot before I can actually make a gulab jamoon (read too much work involved). MC Gunity would have thrown away the packet if it ever had reached him. OTOH, If it was a sort of ready made kind , immersed in Jeera and in a sealed tin also, I belive that he would have thrown it out, 'cause premiers are not that kind of people to eat what ever comes to them as a gift. (security reasons).
To me , she seems like a nut case and a blot to every desi immigrant. May be the time of being without a job , depressed her and changed her to this state. I donot belive in her defence that she uses this word all the time in her home with her husband and that she used to use this word back home in India. Even after getting a P.Hd. It does not seem that she ever got training in soft skills / social skills.

This particular case has nothing to do with cultural differences. If the premier was her friend and understood what she meant if she said "kill her" that would be something different.
Even in India if she handed a gift to secretary of let us say Manmohan Singh and sent an email to Manmohan Singh threatening to kill the secretary if she did not give the pass over the gift to him, same thing would have happened. She would have been arrested for "threatening to kill."
Some people do get into some messy situations in India if they joke with airport security saying "check karlo, hamne koi bomb nahi chupa rakha."
