Can someone suggest me the best way to cook chapati without ghee? I used to put a small layer of ghee on the chapati once cooked in order to make it more soft, but now i dont want to used ghee as it has cholesterol.

which is better to use, canola oil or margarine.

Thanks for the advice and wish all of you to have healthy food.

Ghee natively contains cholesterol because it is animal fat.

Canola oil and margaraine do not natively contain cholesterol but cause the liver to produce cholesterol once ingested.

Either way, you will end up with cholesterol in your blood system - there is no getting away from it because it is an integral part of the body's system.

You may choose to go with good, traditional fat from ghee or replace it with artificial, chemically engineered fats from canola oil and margaraine.

We in our family make chapati/roti/phulka without any trace of ghee !!! The ones which have ghee are called 'Paranthas'.
Prepare dough from the wheat flour with just water and some salt (salt may be an option). Use some flour for dusting while rolling out rotis from the dough and cook them on 'Tawa' and serve hot n fresh!!!
