Greetings. I got my PR in June 2005, got married in July 2005.
Since getting my PR, I am working outside Canada in US, now as my 3 out of 5 years are completing, I am planning to move to Canada with my wife.
The problem is that after marriage I have submitted PR application for my wife in Vienna which is still under processing, I have just received the file number.
Now my question is , Can i bring her along with me on tourist visa ?, what are the chances of her getting the tourist visa ? and once she is in Canada can i sponsor her for PR ? or she needs to go back to India.
Any advice on this , will be highly appreciated.
Thanx.
Congratulations gags,
We all think that everyone on this board is from India and a Desi.
We also think that they are marrying Indians.
Your wife is in Vienna, Austria.
About a month ago I put a chalk mark in front of my shoe. It is still there.
So, I haven't moved very much.
That is how fast the papers are moving everywhere.
Glad that you got a File number. Can you do an electronic case file search and get the location of it? If so, you will know how fast it is moving. Cost? Peanuts!!
Your chances of getting a visitors visa are good, if you know the date of filing the application and the 'ecas' status, You will be able to work out the time frame within which it will materialize. Give or take 12 months +??!! . Make sure she makes a statement under oath that she will return back to Vienna and re-enter when the COPR papers are issued. In short, she will not stay behind here and make problems for the Officer who will be issuing her with a Visitor's Visa.
To get a PR visa, your wife will have to go through Medical and Police clearanceS and may be an interview. Can you guess how long it will take? Do you know the number of countries your wife lived IN and how long it takes to obtain these Police Clearance Certificates from those countries?
I am only guessing the time frame, reading about the movement of files currently posted on to this website, for family reunification.
Good Luck.
Freddie.
