Hello

I'm planning to get married sometime this year and I'll be spending a few weeks with my wife in India after our marriage.
Is it okay if she gets her medical examination done before we get married(a few weeks before getting married)?
Or is there any constraint that the medical must be done after getting married?

Thanks for your help!

She cannot get her medicals done unless you first inform CHC about your marriage and they send her medical forms.
Before both of you get married, there is no basis for including her name in your application and thus she cannot get her medicals done.

Hope this helps.

Not true. In case of spousal applications, you have to do the medical examination before submitting anything to CIC, and the medical certificate is sent alongwith the original application. (this is something they've changed recently and hence are able to process spousal application significantly faster now).

But I agree, you can't get the medicals done before you're married. She has no legal grounds to get medicals for Canada done if she's not married to the sponsor. I would strongly advise not to take this chance, you may end up complicating matters unnecessarily.

Uh oh !
Why did I assume that the poster was a skilled worker applicant?
Just proves assumptions are dangerous !
For once, someone posted a question in the *correct* category and I just assumed he meant the independent category :(

It's bad to assume pratickm. ... especially when giving advice on an open forum like this.

Thanks BL.

Yep, and I hope anyone seeking such advice understands this and takes it for what it is worth.
The Internet is a very bad place to seek advice that can change one's life.

Best wishes.

True. But despite their best intentions, the responsibility first rests on the advisor(s) that they only impart specific immigration advice if they're absolutely sure of what they're saying. And if they're not absolutely sure but still want to make a point, then present it as an opinion as opposed to fact.

I'm not talking about this case in particular, I just mean this in general. Better to err on the side of caution.
