Hi folks,
Just a general survey question... I would like to know from Desi guys/gals (all groups) if you were married
1.) before you came to Canada or
2.) you got married after you came to canada

If your choice is #2 Did you
1.) marry a person born in India (if you were born in Canada) or
2.) marry a person born in Canada(if you were born in India) ?

How did you find the dating scene here ? I can share my experiences here. I have a passion for Bollywood and Hindi movies.. and the desi gals (folks born here)i met.. did not have a clue as to what I was talking abt !.. and secondly I had a problem understanding their hindi accent's

Even met a bengali gal who said that she didnt like Bollywood films at all

Would like to know this stuff from others also..may help future LOVE-STRUCK dude's

She might not be liking Bollywood Damaka films but probably prefer good movies ...being a Bengalee guy I know most of the Bengalees like to watch Movies but some of them are selective and only watch good movies directed by Satyajit Roy,Rituparno Ghosh,Aparna Sen,Mrinal Sen etc etc

N.B I was watching Fimfare award yesteday night in ATN and some of current Bollywood movies are just wonderful both Technically and in acting point of view

1) I wasn't married before I came here.

2) I married a girl from India.

Why? Well, I hate to cook and clean. So I figured if I got a wife from India.... . Ok ok, before I'm bombarded with hate-mail, I was just kidding.

I think it all comes down to how and whre you are raised yourself and what you look for in a spouse. I have a few friends who are Canadian born and raised girls, and I love hanging out with them. They're all wonderful people. But when I think of marriage, I doubt it would work. There's a wavelength discrepancy that's hard to pin-point, but I figured I'll be more compatible with a girl raised in India.

Only time will tell though

Hey BlueLobster, that was indeed a nice choice !
But tell me something, do you think the Canadian society is best suited for a child's development ?I will post this topic in another thread..

I had a muslim friend from Lucknow, he returned back to India last year and believe me he received a lot of responses from prospective would-be- muslim gals here (rather their parents)..doesnt that tell you something !

BTW.. ATN Is C***... I miss Star Plus and those old Doordarshan serials !

BL, let me rephrase my statement

" Is the Canadian Society well suited for a child having parents from India and having Indian attitudes, customs and traditions" ? I know this is a cliched question but I am not comparing you to Amrish Puri in DDLJ or Pardes

desi people born here are called CBCD's ... didn't u ever hear of them before?
