Its demand and supply . If they have a genuine opportunity for which they need you - I bet you they will visit your house ---- no needs of any personal interviews at all till its time to meet the client .

I have turned couple of them down myself and guess what - they still keep calling about little known jobs and companies --- .

I would suggest to be courteous to them but maintain your priorities.

Hello Cd's,
This is the 3 rd. incident of having a worse time with a recruiter.
A recruiter from a reputed recruitment firm near my house called me 2 days back and told me that he got my resume from Workopolis and asked me if I was still looking for work for which I said yes. He then asked me when I would be free to come to his office to discuss about a position. Since I am desparetely looking for work near my home, I agreed to come and he fixed 9:00 am today. I lied to my employer and met this recruiter at his office. He went through my resume and talked to me about my strength's and work for 30 mins. At the end of the Interview, He told me that he will try to get me a job and that he would first call up all Architects within that region to see if they were interested in employing me. I really got angry when he told me that. I told him that he could have asked all these details over the phone and why he was bothering me like that for some non existant position. He cooly replied that this was the procedure. I came late to the office by 1 hr. 30 mins. which i have to compensate by working late or coming to work on Monday.
Why are these recruiters like this wasting our time. My guess is that he had to give an account to his company as to how many potential candidates he interviews every month and he used me as a pawn in his employment target figure.
Does any other CD have horrible experience like this and any way to teach these kind of recruiters a lesson?
As said before this was my 3 rd. experience like this.

Peace

you lied to your employer. then now you get angry at recruiter for what you percerceive as lying to you about a job when it is just their process to screen candidates. you should be greatful taht you passed the interview and that he is going to recommend you to employers .. but with your outburst at the end he might NOT recommend you to potential employers .. that would be yours to blame because of that outburst at the end of the interview.

i have a job now .
but have my resume posted on line.
if a recruiter calls me ...
i say to him

'don't waist my time. talk fast. you got 90 seconds to tell me ..
what is the co.? what is the position? what is compensation?
and you've seen my resume .. why should i move?'

they know i mean business. i literally hang up afer 90 seconds.
if it is a good op, i usually chat a bit more.

There is no choice. Two ways you can get a job... Networking or Recruitment.
Networking - most of us are new in Canada, how strong is your networking?
What is other choice?

Direct hiring is the most potent choice and it works .

This depends on the recruiting company.. some companies like to meet the individual before they forward the resume.. Others care less..

It is not uncommon and all a part of the process of job hunting..

If i were u i would not get too worked up about it..
