1. Have you been rejected by the USA? i.e., denied VISA renewal, turned down green card or whatever crap...

2. Why did you come to Canada? Were you just desparate?

3. Are you going to go back to US? Are you that desparate?

4. Have you considered going back to India?

The reason I am curious about these things...is that a few friends I know here in Canada, keep raving about how good the US is....and how bad Canada is, the weather being on the top of their list. All these folks are pathetic rejects that still want to go back to the USA...amazing.

"Why did you guys come here in the first place?" is my #1 question to them and I often times don't get an answer.

Unfortunately most of these folk are

1. under-confident.
2. failures.
3. doesn't like to work hard or look around.
4. jealous.
5. Most importantly they lack the ability to realize the values of what they have in their hand now.

I sound like Dharam paji now, but this is what I found in my circle of people who rave about USA. I have written million times that many financially successful people I met here were not really the people who started with a good white collar jobs and people keep disputing that.

Yeah? I'd very much like to know the rationale behind this gross genralization. Do you happen to know most of these "folk" who rave about the US?

faliures in what way? If you mean employment, I beg to differ. I've yet to meet a desi who moved here fom the States and wasn't able to find employment in their chosen field.

Again, what twisted logic made you determine that? And look around at what? The insane immigration system gone wild that's letting garbage from around the globe land up here?

Sure they are jealous, but not of Canada. They are jealous of their friends in the US who:

1. Don't get ass-ra$ed every month on car insurance
2. Pay 30%-60% less for pretty much everything including food, compared to Canadians.
3. pay on an average $10-$15 less for gas every full tank
4. Enjoy better customer service and don't have to deal with immigrants who are frustrated for having been pushed into CSR jobs and take their frustration out on customers.

The list is long, but I'm sure you get the point :D

Oh no, they do realize the "values" for sure.

3 yrs in Canada = Canadian Passport = TN Visa = USA

You see, in the case of Canada vs. USA, the grass IS greener on the south of the border :p

DT,

Well, the same sort of story is being repeated by many folks in USA about India and Middle east, some of their complaints are

1. Gas price is going high and high.
2. outsourcing.
3. can not afford a maid.
4. big tax (esp.., folks from middle east who enjoyed 0%).

If some one has come to USA without any idea, he was so desperate to move and was ready to kiss a** before moving there.. same applied to Canada, if some one has moved to Canada without knowing what is in Canada, they are either ignorant or too desperate to move ( true in most cases).

Expenses in life will never go down, they will continue to rise, it is us who need to realize that and make avenues to earn more to make up with the pace.

If some one is making a small paycheck, if he/she put efforts, wouldn't you think they would grow to earn more, what way Canada holds you to grow, isn't there any way to grow.

To some extents I was doing this blame game when I moved to Middle east where I was dreaming about India, When I moved to US I was dreaming about Middle east, I felt I became sort of nomade If I can't take what I get when I've moved to Canada hence the change of thoughts.

Collectively I would like to ask some one who complaints,

1. Why did you move to Canada, was it your choice (for the most).
2. Weren't you aware of the Job scene, economy, insurance, tax etc..,

To me, I was very clear before moving to Canada that I can't save money but I could live a decent life, I am happy with that. I was saving much much more in USA and Middle east but now I think I am enjoying a relaxed life than a pressured one.

Well, all of the above is your personal experience and prefrence, it certainly doesn't apply to the rest of the populace. I for one came to Canada in order to get rid of my Indian Citizenship as soon as possible. A Canadian Passport provides me with more oppurtunities and freedoms in the US and the rest of the world that an Indian passport could never have. PLEASE NOTE:- I am not dogging India in anyway so please save your patriotic fervor for another time :p

In my experience, a lot of desis (especially the IT guys) from the US opt to exile themselves in Canada for a few years for this very reason. Some start liking it, others (myself included) can't refrain from comparing everything to the US - either way, it's one's personal prefrence.

Its not really my business to speak about your patriotism here, If I need to speak about that, what I am doing here.. The subject is ignorance and then annoyance to the fellow citizens. I am not here to deny that I've made my case out of my own personal experience but that was handful.

Again, I do not want to start a boring lecture to show that US indeed is different from Canada with their very basic administrative principles. In a developed democratic nation, no one would ever dare to stop some one from speaking against the system they have been going through but the expectation should be to wipe out the shortcoming instead of smear job.

Just tell me something, when people around you make comments like ' Yeah, it is a poor nation under the disguise of something, cheap people, cheap environment etc.,. etc..,' one or other way it implies to me and the place I am living in. They try to make you feel you are living in a cheapo and you got no means to bail out.

My point, if some body want to praise any country, that is perfectly all right, at the same time one doesn't need to put down this country unnecessarily without realizing (or intentional) that it hurts the people around. Do you think I feel very happy to wait in ER for hours and hours, Pay big bucks to the Auto Insurance companies, of course not, I complain too but what a country has to do, it is the business environment and the business folks to deal with.
