If I can get a precise advise from one of you ,I would be thankful to a great extent as I have to make a tough decsion..
I got my PR card in Oct 2004 valid till 2009. I married in Feb 2006. Got divorced without any hassles in March 2007 after a year of sepration. I had sponsored my wife from India in May 2006. I returned to India in April 2007 with the intention of never returning, but circumstances in India have made me consider returning back. But I want to marry and come back and not single.
I am not clear with the sponsorship of second wife issue. I am not sure but I think I cant sponsor anyone for 3 years. Is it from date of marriage or date of divorce.???? I have also heard that second spo0nsorhip takes years??? will my absence in Canada from apr2007 to lets say Dec 2008 have any bearing on my sponsorship.
My marriage decision and my desire to get return to Canada. Is it both possible or will I have to drop idea of marriage and return
When you sponsored your first spouse, you signed an undertaking which is valid for 3 years from the day your ex-spouse became 'landed immigrant'(the day she landed) in Canada. You cannot sponsor any other person till this undertaking is in force.
Regarding the processing time for the second marriage being longer, it may not be true in all cases. The Visa Officer must be convinced that the marriage is genuine and not an arrangement to get somebody to Canada. Sometimes a second marriage also cast doubts about the genuinity of the first marriage and there have been instances where CIC has initiated investigations into the first marriage.
I am not trying to scare you but I am just giving you the facts for you to plan and decide your future course of action.
Best wishes
Praveen
