We have completed citizenship test and received letter for oath. We have my wife´s IMM1000. But my IMM1000 is lost. We have landed on the same day, in my wife´s IMM1000 paper it’s mentioned that I am accompanying. Also I remember in my paper it was saying that she is accompanying.
However we both have all other documents, including PR card.
During my test, the lady who verified the paper said we need to bring the IMM1000 papers during the oath. Otherwise we need to get the copy from CIC.
Meanwhile we searched at our house found my wife´s paper, but mine is no where.
I wonder why did she ask us to bring the paper.
The following is mentioned in the oath letter.
Subject: NOTICE TO APPEAR - TO TAKE THE OATH OF CITIZENSHIP
...
...
Immigration Record of Landing (IMM1000) to be updated AND/OR Permanent Resident Card (PRC) to be surrendered. If you have both, you must bring both.
If you have a photocopy, you can obtain the same quickly. It might cost you a hundred bucks too. Contact CIC center in Mississauga and see how quickly you can obtain the duplicate copy from them.
You may have to file an affidavit, or swear to that you lost it and get it notarized and submit it along with your request and tghe fees for it.
Good Luck.
Freddie

We have attended the oath today. They have asked for the IMM1000. Once I have indicated as lost, they asked to fill a form to record the loss. They recommended to get the certified true copy of IMM1000 for the future use, like pension etc.
We received the citizenship and applied for passport.
One more thing we observed, when we apply dual citizenship to India, they ask for IMM1000 to confirm the landing date.
Thanks
GS
The Certified Original is as good as the first one you had. So, you can reproduce the same or photocopy and get it attested as true copy any time. If the Indian Government is looking for the Original when you submit the Passport for OCI or PIO they will retain a copy of that for their files.
Generally the Immigration Officer staples this to your Passport at the first time when you land. Hence the Indian High Commission will be looking for the stapled copy.
Yes, you will need this not only for yourself for Pension and OAS etc., Everyone who accompanied with you, i.e. the dependents, will also need one too, for their usage, for a lot of other things, same as your needs. So, when you ask for copies, please ask for more from them, because, for some reason, the government does not accept photocopies.!!
Hope this clears your doubts.
Freddie.
We got the letter for OATH ceremony on July 7th.Indian Government actually started dual citizenship?I was planning to return my Indian PP once I receive the Canadian PP.
To obtain dual citizenship what's the process?
Thanks,
