I have a oDodge Caravan 1997 I want to sell it. I have talked to a few scrappers but they are willing to give only around $ 500. It runs okay. I have heard we can donate the car to a charitable institution and we will get a tax receipt. Can anyone help me in this regard? Has anyone donated a car to a charity and which one. I need to know today its very urgent.

Thanx

Hi Ritu,

I donated my old car (1994 Toyota Tercel) to Kidneycar.ca and got a donation raceipt for $125.00. However, you Dodge Caravan may be values higher since its driveable.

Please call/email them at kidneycar.ca and check it out. Please note that it takes about 1 week for them to arrange someone to pickup from your location.

Also, please understand fully the tax benefits of donation receipts - if that is important to your decision.

Hope this helps.

Hiren

I have a 1999 Toyota corolla (290K kms) which I want to scrap.
Everything is well in it except that the front bumper is broken(as well as the front frame is bent). It runs great.
I talked to a scraper in KW area who advertised the highest rates and he promised me around $150 - $ 175.
Is there anyway that I can scrap or sell this for $ 1000 + ?
I donot have a high income and hence the tax recipt option is not a good option.
CD's views welcomed.

Peace by TK

Before scrapping or donating, give it a try to sell it. Corrolla with 290K can still be sold. List it on classified of mississauga news, Star, this site's classified and http://toronto.kijiji.ca (you can post ad free). You may have to spend a few for listing on newspaper but will be worth a try if you have time.

Very True ..I had been able to sell some of my old stuff through Kijiji and craiglist .This stuff I guess if I would have left outside nobody would have picked .
As Vipeen mentioned these sites are absolutely free . All you have to do is post your ad several times to jack it up to the top .
Best of luck

The mechanic is asking for $ 400 to just fix the bumper. The front structural frame (holding the bumper) has been twisted so that it will NEVER pass the safty test required to transfer the vehicle to another person.
so I have no choice but to scrap the vehicle. I am paying $ 130 a month on insurance and $ 30 on parking for a vehicle that I donot use (I have 2 cars) and hence scraping this is the best solution.
