i have comp. background . looking for good job in it field.
hos is qulity assurance & s/w testing ?
hows job opportunites there?
can i learn in 8 weeks?
which is better to learn dba or qa testing?
have u know any institute or consultant or contarctor ,who provide training & then place ment ?

I work for an IT consulting company. The mundane low-level developer jobs started to be outsourced to Bangalore a while back. Now the QA has started transitioning to Bangalore as well. What's left here is only design work and client interfacing roles such as System Analyst, Business Analyst, Project Manager, Onshore Team Lead just to name a few.
Depending on what your expectation of a "Good Job" is, you might want to do some research on popular job sites like:

Also, try the big consulting companies' website directly. Delloitte & Touche, Accenture, IBM, CGI etc.
It should give you a general idea about the demand. Good luck with your search.
I don't know much about this "providing training and then placement". That seems like a tougher route to take as it will cost you and there are no guarantees usually. Others here who know have some personal success can post their stories.

In Canada GTA is a good area if u are looking for IT jobs.
3 of the biggest banks have their HQ here.. The ratio for QA to developers is usaually 1 : 4 . A developer position may need specific skills like .net , java, pl/sql, embedded..
But QA needs usually manual testing skills.. The net result is there are equal number of positions for QA as compare to Java or .net etc...
Also as most of the positions are in banks QA is given a lot of emphasis..

This question tells me u have no idea about IT...
QA is easier..
DBA is a very hard profession to get into.. needs lot of exp and involves lot of responisiblity and risk.. Nobody will hire a Trainee as DBA..

HiTech institute in downtown have QA training.. which includes Automation tool (usually QTP).
Placement u are on ur own..
