Today while going down a 60k.hr street and car turned right from an intersection on a his red light. He did not accelerate and I had to brake hard and hence I honked. The guy than showed me his middle finger and continued driving. Then he braked again to annoy me and I had to brake again. Anyway, I kept my distance from him and on the next red light he came beside me and rolled down his window and gave me some aggressive looks. I did not bother rolling down the window and on green light we continued our way.

I reached home and reported this to the police. The police took down the car's plate # and make. They also took my name and address. They said they shall send a warning letter to him.

Now I am worried did I do the right thing? Would the police give my name to him in the warning letter? Any particular cautions for the future?

You should have thought about this before you actioned on your instincts right? Anyways, what's done is done and you have to face the consequence which might turn out to be nothing. So don't worry about it.

For the future, ignore such incidents. In the big scheme of things, these are just a waste of your time and emotions. Something about getting behind the wheel of a car, being in the safety of an automobile which you can drive away that makes one do stupid things. Just look the other way and carry on. Life is too precious to be wasted on such inconsequential minutae.

That's the way I have dealt with my own anger on the road and my encounters with other drivers who were even more aggravated than I....this was when I used to drive 100Kms back and forth to and from work each day.

You have done right and police will not pass on your info to other person. In City of Mississauga, you can report the agressive driving to the police. There would be no legal action again the driver except a warning. This acts a deterent.

Iceberg,
if he is just a normal person, he will not do anything. So you do not have to worry about it.
But if he is a member of a Gang and if he took down your licence plate and if he was really angry with you, it would not take him much to track you down. However, this happening is very remote.
I am really surprised as to how Desi's make foolish mistakes like this. Toronto is a city of Guns and Gangs and it is not advisable for you to do this unless you are prepared for any consequences.
If I was in your position, I would not drive down that road again. I would take a diff. route.
Again it depends on what area you were in and what sort of person that you had irritated.
Keep us updated.

Peace

As usual, you just want to start controversy and gain attention...

Iceberg, just ignore this. Hundreds and thousands of road rage events happen around GTA everyday, yours is not unique. What you did is perhaps the most responsible action. Why would some one who got exposed to cops already would consider bothering you. Doesn't make any sense. More over, I really doubt cops would send a warning letter to some one just by hearing the story from your side. If at all they send it, it would just be a warning, not a demerrit point or fine.

Iceberg thought the guy was not going fast enough.
Iceberg honks.
The guy shows Iceberg the finger and so he is the aggressive driver?????

I find this the most demented piece of crappy balderdash in this modern civilization. You are almost asking this guy to complain because he can do so in the safety net of anonimity. Seriosuly wtf? And you think cops here just pick up the phone, take your complaint and then issue someone a warning? Doesn't there have to be some shard of evidence?

"Aggressive driving" surely has some definition in their books.
