Everyone gets easily fooled by the word Dubai. Everyone thinks something is going on there and you can make tons of money there.
Its a country with no social benefits / legal rights.
Yes you will save a more as compared to other places but not worth it in the long term.
It is a place where people want to make easy money ( if you get lucky ) and not think long term.
Yes, there are no social/legal rights - that is why they pay truckloads of money. Banks in Dubai can pay 4 or 5 times what those in TO do (functional level comparision). Performance bonus' can be 6/8/10 months gross.
Despite monthly rentals of $4K and school fees of approx $2K per child - these are the major expenses, followed by 2 holiday trips per year (one home, one elsewhere), savings are plenty!!!
The basic modus operandi is to make pots of money when the children are young and to move elsewhere when they approach univ age. Works for many people.

Do you guys think slavery does not exist in India? How many get minimum wages? How many are forced to work over 10 hours a day? Do you think they are doing so by choice? Dubai or anywhere in the world, the rich have and shall continue to expliot the have nots.
What about Canada where you have an unending stream of well qualified immigrants doing menial jobs ? ... my heart froze when I came across a well qualified engineer lifting boxes for a living .
Would Canada allow those non English speakers who earn wages in Dubai ~ yes things are not what they used to be ...... but most of the laborers in the ME get free accommodation and food and even if they get INR 8K pm tax free they send it home and are perhaps happy .......... There are cases where unfortunately some commit suicide ......... tragic . Both kind of cases exist .
I recently came across a standing human advertiser on Dundas / Dixie ........ holding a billboard of a furniture store .......... he was standing at one point alone .............

Fido.
okay, let us compare apples with apples.
As far as I know, Canada did import a lot of uneducated foreign (south asian) labour in the mid of the previous century. All these were given land to cultivate (and own), and money to start their lives. And yes all of them had medical coverage. Just to talk about basic human rights.
I have never heard of any such basic human rights in Dubai - not even near to this.
Canada gives you a legal permanent status, accepts you and provides oppurtunities to grow. Is Dubai ready to give away citizenships to the people who are building their country?

I agree that an immigrant engineer might have to lift boxes initially for survival, but if really qualified, he will find a way one day and will be paid equal to his "canadian" counterpart. How often do you see that in Dubai?
I don't want to deviate this discussion from labours to engineers - it is not a fair comparision although I believe a very small percentage of our indian educated workforce is doing "really well" in Dubai.
