In Montral, the traffic lights are of a diff. design than in Toronto. Some lights have the lights Horizontally (In ontario all are vertical).
However, the major difference is that when you are waiting to make a left turn at a green signal. Actually when the signal turns to red, you will have an exclusive left turn light (in contrast to Ontario where the exclusive left turn signal starts at the begining of the sequence, in Montral it happens at the end). It probably occurs at the begining of the sequence too -I donot remeber now.
So if you are 2 or 3 cars behind wanting to turn left ar a green signal, you will be able to do it in Montreal. I was unaware of this and got a Honking and a Cursing by a french Canadian the first time.
Hope this is helpful.
Peace

Ummm.. This means -
1. for a left turn, I inch into the intersection, like is done in TO and wait for a left.
2. additionally, when the light turms red..., I get a green arrow for a left turn
Is this correct?

2. Not always...sometimes there is just the green light...sometimes there is also a green arrow for the left turn. You can turn on both as convenient. Just keep your eyes on the signal when you are in the middle of the road...its probably a bad place to guess 'sequences' anyway
