I have been in Canada for quite a while.
Your comment against "Indian Tactics" looks quite derogatory to me.

Logically speaking: My "Marketing" oriented title and my failing 10 times has no connection.

If you cannot encourage a person, you do well to keep silence. But do not discourage a person.

Let me see, if your life goes smoothly without any problem at all and that you are happy 24/7 /365/366 of your life.

When a westerner does the same thing it is called "Cheap publicity" but when a Desi does and that too for a genuine query(though I have leant that this is not the forum to do as Indians are very sensitive to such issues), I invoke such responses. Anyways, I learn a lot from my "enemies"(if there are any) too in how to speak diplomatically and thus you have been a catalyst for my change. Thankyou

I intend to not extend this thread any further and thus would keep silence hereafter.

Now when it comes to following rules very few people see all signs all the time. Most of the time follow th eflow will help when you ar enew in the area but if you are leading the traffic then you would have to follow signs and rules. Never get intimidated by a car behind you tail gating. SO here it is get good night sleep the day before the test. Have your best breakfast go for the test a bit earlier and smile and great the examinar and follow instructions with patience. Driving requires patience and humble attitude. Also it is very repeptitave in nature, doing the same things with accuracy. If you can do the above you will pass but then always be humble and patient and considerate to others on the road including walkers and cyclists. Never race others never bully others and give people space when they need enter highway or change lanes. Never ever honk any one unless permitted by rules.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

You have a point here: Get a goodnight's rest before the test and have your best breakfast before you go for the test.

I did not have both and I think it acted on my nerves tremendously.

Also, I was self-conscious when I kept looking at what "ticks" the examiner made on his sheet and on the road. This made me all the more nervous.

Anyways, it is a good learning curve and will do better next time.

Thankyou very much. ANy good instructor you know in Lawrence/Markham area?

1. Making a left turn as you described above is not \\\"just one\\\" dangerous action. It has serious consequences and therefore you were rightfully failed. Maybe, taking driving more serious might help you pass.

The driving examiner has done a great favor to the driving community by keeping you off the roads:D

Please update us when you receive the drivers license....I can plan a vancouver move.

just kidding. Please take more driving lessons. Good luck.

Take a 25 hour safety driving course - this will have 2 benefits - 1 - you will learn the rules of driving thoroughly and for 2 will lower your Insurance substantially . Do not take driving non seriously - US (and I believe other countries as well) has lost more lives in accidents than at war ......... 100 000 lives were lost in India last year alone on the roads .

"The dangerous action": Let me explain to you what happened in detail.

It is not that I do not know I should not go on a red on the left.

It is legally permissible to cross the line at green and yellow and if the color changes to red then it is again legally permissible to wait 1/3rd in the intersection keeping the wheels straight but the car at an angle to the left and wait for the cars to go.

It is also legally permissible to make a move in the red IF THE CAR is in the intersection so that one does not block the cars which have right of way.

Now, it was my judgemental risk that I took when I crossed the line at Yellow, the examiner did not notice that as he was busy ticking the sheet for something and the signal changed to Red. Technically, I was right in moving ahead on yellow.

I was about to put the brake but the examiner lifted his head slightly and his peripheral vision caught the redlight and he thought I was trying to make a left turn on red and braked. Now, when an examiner brakes, it is doomed for the examinee.END OF SOLOMON GRUNDY.And whatever protests I tried to make and explain the legality there were of no avail and he would have nothing of it. Just one mistake and Iam gone.Even though my intent was to brake and keep the car waiting in the intersection. This has happened to my friend too who failed the test second attempt and succeeded the third attempt.

Some friends of mine though they observed ('observed' is a technical term used to look, and drive defensively especially at intersection) at the intersection, the some examiners expect one to literally make an act of turning the head. This is especially so with female drivers(reported by my driving instructor who has some close friends in the driving test centre in port union, scarborough) because females have a better(compared to men) peripheral vision(scientifically proven) than men and some females do not tend to literally turn their heads left and right at every interesection, thus they fail.

Driving test performance thus involves not just skill and judgement but a good amount of attitude and luck too.

I hope you now understand my position.

Anyways, there is always a next time...

PEACE Brother...why you take this issue so serious....
rarely someone get licence in first attemt...i already failed twice...after driving 12 + years in Europe...so this is nothing new....many people fails...

I have one friend from Vadodara(india)...he got his G in 14th attemt(from morning side-scarborough)

i just asked you dont giveup...keep trying....most of the time people fails...because they are very nervous...when examiner sitting near...

no one is hier your enemy...we are all desi......

i am just wondering...when our Govt..will negotiate with Canadian govt...so we can exchange our licences...like korean/japs/afghans..and other countries do:confused:

hope you will get ur licence soon.......enjoy:cheers:

----------------------------------------------

I did not know Afghans could exchange their licences.

Now, one thing befuddles me. The driving manuals and the rules say that if our embassy gives a letter for experience then there is asome sop(if my memory is right, get G2 license without the driving test and just give the G Highway test).

I then contacted our embassy and they said "We have stopped giving such certificates". However, I also heard that there is a form in the embassy which when filled up properly and assessed by the embassy, one could get the driving experience certificate from the embassy. When I asked about the form quoting the number, I got very rude responses from the embassy. So, I had to give up despite my driving experience in India and USA and settled for the G2 road test route.

I wish the embassy could me more considerate to us.

Its not a question of people not having a sense of humor, your post sets a bad precedent. If everyone started thinking about gimmicks like these to elicit responses, the forum would look pretty stupid. On top of that, you can already see that you've now invited responses that have nothing to do with your real question and that's a by-product of your "idea"; not something you can complain about.

Please edit your post.

---------------------------------
Now that I have got satisfactory replies to my post, though initially there were some funny bone replies, I have edited the title to a decent one. Sorry for raking up some dust here.

One kind member had posted a driing instructor info here in Scarborough and I have contacted him and now plan to take up proper profesional classes and give the exam fully prepared.

Thankyou very much for being patient.
