Chances of crossed cheque fraud?

i have a NRE account with ICICI bank in india. i have sent a crossed check worth rs. 100000 to JxxxxB Tyyys by ordinary canada post 12 days ago. still that letter is not reached there. i am worried whether someone may open a fake account in the name of JxxxxB Tyyys and en cash it. i have an option to stop the cheque by online through ICICI web site. should i do it or wait another few days?

have been visiting this site once in a while for an year or so. never had an occasion to ask a query. i have read some of u r posts before and i assume u r the right person reply to this question

Besides making a cheque a/c payee I generally post date the cheque to ensure that it reaches the right hands ... if beyond a time limit the cheque is not received / lost in transit ... get it cancelled ..... since it is post dated , it can not be encashed till then .

i never had this experience of delayed check. my bad it is urgent i put the date as yesterday

12 days or so with Canada post.. not surprising...
It probably would have taken even longer had you used registered post...
It took one of my registered mail (Canada post) about a month, to reach Delhi..
hope that gives you some consolation..
