My wife while parking her car in her company private parking spot hit the other parked car from back on her bumper. A minor scratch came on her bumper. Now she is asking it to repair from Collision center, which deals like claim from insurance company with all GST/PST etc and estimate is around $1000 minimum plus after opening car.
In market, there are so many centers, where I can fix same thing in $200 lump sum, Please guide me, how to deal in such situation. What if I go to insurance claim, how much will be raise in my insurance or hit in private property is shared by both parties equally, please respond.
Thanks in advance for sharing views.
My friend had exact same issue. Cops came in and asked him to deal this issue among themself. (Damage about $ 1000)
As per Cops since this is private property issue, it will 50-50 fault by default.
My Friend ended up fixing his car and never filed claim with insurance company. Other guy fixed his own car.
At fault accident can increase insurance from $ 30- 60/month. Also it will stay on you record for 5-6 years.
There is no fixed rule to determine this. Every company will be different
Check with your insurance company. Normally some companies waive first at fault accident. Basically no premium increase. But you have to pay extra to have this feature. May be you already have it and do not know about this.
Thanks a lot. No need to worry even if I have to go to report to Police collosion center.
It will impact the insurance of both, I believe.
The other party does not want to fix it from normal body shop and pressurizing me to go body shop which deals like insurance claim. In actual, that dent is easily fixable in $200, but that body shop guy gave minimum estimate of $1000 plus said, once he will open the car, then may be it needs more work from inside. Dam bastard.........
No if she wants to call police, As per your advise, Let her call police and will be settled as 50-50.
Thanks again.
