My thoughts on few Hindi movies I saw some times ago

Taxi No. 9211 - Looking at the synopsis of the movie, I thought it might be a novel idea. However, I personally did not like the movie. Nana Patekar repeats his "Agnisakshi" role of a psychotic husband. John Abraham proves that he cannot act. Gujarati/Parsi banker is again stereotyped for comic relief. And it is hard to believe that all the incidents took place within a single day

Fight Club - I do not know why this movie was made. The idea is liberally borrowed from the Hollywood movie "Fight Club" starring Edward Norton/Brad Pitt. However, director gives the movie a Bollywood twist. The original "Fight Club" had a message against consumerism, while in the Bollywood version, the "Fight Club" is formed to make money. The movie has so many unnecessary characters, including three heroines who are there only for songs. Again, a stereotypical Gujarati character shoved in to provide comic relief

Salaam Namaste - A movie that can offend any sensible NRI. The director thinks that the asking Saif Ali Khan to use the word "cr**" even 5 min will make the character cool and hip. The movie uses the old age formula of a boy and girl fighting for initial reels and finally falling in love. The character of Jaaved Jaafri is extremely offensive and the movie end with a terrible knock off of Robin Williams-Hugh Grant starrer "Nine Months".

No wonder all the movies flopped at Box Office.

I do look forward to watch "Johny Gaddar", "Aamir", "A Wednesday" and "Tahaan"

I haven't watched first two ... but Javed Jafri, IMO, was fun in Salaam Namaste.

I liked Johny Gaddar & A Wednesday.
... haven't seen Aamir & Tahaan yet - so can't comment.

I agree with you, except I haven't watched '9211' and 'Fight Club'. Sounded like just another movies.
As for 'Salaam Namastey', you're right. But, I liked Javed Jafri's role - especially his 'egjactly'.

Now, one liner review of Johney Gaddar - Pretty good movie, a thriller and edge of the seat. Excellent acting by Neal Nitin Mukesh. Go for it.

I am yet to watch the other three movies, out of which I have heard all the excellent review of 'A Wednesday'. I am not sure about the other two.

Have you already watched 'Bheja Fry' and 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'? Pretty good movies.

Totally ... Bheja Fry is Fun and so is Khosla

BTW, I was watching 'Yadon ki Baarat' (for first time) on SetMAX Yesterday. I watched second half. Two Scenes -
* Vijay Arora is at Hotel for Interview (Position of Steward). He approaches reception counter and hands over his Card, informing them that I am here for Interview.
* Dharampaaji hands over his Card to Jack (?). Those who have not watched movie, Dharampaaji is an Expert Thief.

There were many other, but these two scenes takes cake ... I could not stop laughing !!!

LOL... I agree as I have watched the movie. In the old movies including 70s,80s, everyone used to have their cards with them, even if it's the actress who has just finished college, staying with her 'chachaji', playing badminton, and picnicking. Funny :)

By the way, it's a pretty good topic. We can even turn it into 'A Leisure discussion about Bollywood movies', just like another thread. Then, it's gonna be one thread about hindi movies instead of the seperate thread lying all over the place on CD. What say???

Because, I believe there are good Bollywood movies as well that everyone would want to share.

Yes, I watched Rock-ON, its good especially if you understand music and musicians. It is another of those non-conventional movies (trade mark of Farhan Akhtar..:D ) - more on the line of Dil Chahta Hai..but good music and excellent performances from Farhan and Arjun Rampal.

I am curious about Tahaan, will watch it this weekend.

Hiren
