Which is the best option for re-entering India (long term basis)

1) PIO
2) OCI
3) Visa

Please consider all options (like cost, reporting to police in India<after 180 days>, consular benefits from Canada Govt etc.) before answering.

Kids OCI would require re-issuance of OCI registration certificate and visa each time a new foreign passport is issued for up to the completion of 20 years of age - which will be every 4 - 4.5 yrs (Same is true for 50+ old)

Where as PIO, it is good for 15 yrs!

Anyone has any recent experience of PIO card processing for kids from the Toronto consulate?
How long is it taking these days?
I ask because a few months ago they were backed up severely and it was taking over a month.
Has it changed?

Thanks.

I've plan to return back to india. May be I'll have to back to canada after 10 to 12 years when children will be in univeristy.

I am expecting my candian citizenship in 2 weeks and I had decided to go for OCI for my family including children. After reading this thread, I'll have to think again for PIO/OCI for my children.

PIO card holder require to notify if staying more than 180 days. If PIO holder staying long time (like 10 years) in india, is it require to notify every 6 month?
(OR it requires only one time per visit.)

What other advantages/disadvantages of PIO card holder in compare of OCI?

Thanks in Advance.
