Hi friends.

I need to get rid of these cockroaches from my flat. They are all over and bothering me.

Owner of the flat gave me some chemical fluid to spray and i used it , but not working...

I am afraid to use more spray, as we have 4 months baby.

Even i tried boric acid + sugar - no use.

Can anyone advise me how i can i get rid of these cockroaches.

Please..............

Thanks

It is an arduous task of totally eradicating the pests in your flat. Not knowing the configuration of the flat, I would say that it will be nice to do the following in the current circumstance.

First identify the location where they are inhabiting. They do migrate from room to room and if it is a Basement, from floor to floor also. Unless they are totally separated. (??)

You will have to get a few Cardboard boxes and clean and load one item at a time into the boxes and after filling each and every box, remove it immediately out of that area. You will do better to add a plastic liner inside the box (Garbage bags, NEW) Remove all of the items, including the last one. (It will look like you are moving out of that place.)

That goes for each and every room, Clothes, all of the garments etc., You may have to even get the furniture and mattresses too clear off the area. (Not a nice time of the year to attempt this.)

Then you will have to totally fumigate that area and stay clear off that place for a period of 24 hours. You may have to go to a friends place or take a lodging for the night. Go to Niagara Falls for the night.

Then reappear and clear all of the dead pests and the capsules.(Eggs) Do a thorough cleaning job before you attempt to use the areas. While you are restocking or getting back to normal life, go slowly and methodically, and only take out what you normally would need from day to day.

Some of these do enter machines such as dishwashers, stoves and refrigerators and at the footing of the cupboards and will return to haunt you again. But might find that they are gone for a few days. They are nocturnal in their haunts and would be good to set traps, in case you suspect that they are still there.

Even though you have to do all of the major work, it is the obligation of the owner to help you with the eradication, as the place is uninhabitable. Please do tell him that.

I have seen my neighbour in India using 'Rekha' etc., What can you do? You just got to go with the flow...

Happy hunting.

Freddie.

Boric Acid mixed with sugar works very effectively and is one of the safest things to use in home. You can also try mixing baking soda with a little of sugar and sprinkle in every corner and crevice, below the sink and any other place you think is hot and humid. Also make sure that there are never in left overs in the sink over night and there is no water leakage any where as these pests can survive with out food for long but not with out water.

Try this and have a little patience as it would take some time to eradicate them totally but you will notice that after use of these two things their 'population' or 'sighting' will decrease and ultimately you would be able to get rid of them. I am saying from my own experience as in my condo both of my neighbors are Chinese (nothing wrong with that though) and I have seen these creatures crawling from the crevices of the wall of my condo adjoining these neighbours so I had to make sure to sprinkle the mixture in that crevice as well.

Let us know after 2 weeks.

Some of the worst apartment buildings in Toronto are in Parkdale. City Hall has rated restaurants - where we eat. We believe apartment buildings - where we live - need to be rated as well.

We need your help to rate Parkdale apartment buildings. Just like restaurants, they can be rated PASS, FAIL or CONDITIONAL PASS.

To date, four of the worst buildings in Parkdale have been condemned by the community.

The worst building in Parkdale receives the infamous Golden Cockroach Award … and lots of publicity! The media is very interested in this award.
