Oh ok, then we are on the same page because that is exactly what I thought of the MP's message.
Sorry if I failed to see the humor behind your post ;)

Stephen Harper went in at 9.30am to meet with GG.
At 10.30 am doors open and everybody thought Steve wud emerge and make a statement.
It is 11.50 am and there are still waiting for Stephen Harper.

Anybody read "Waiting for Godot?"

It seems like that.

God bless GG. She took the right decision.

I had no interest in seeing Layton acting as a "PM in background" making all decisions. That joint venture of 3 monkeys would have been like a man with 3 legs with all walking in different direction.

Over to Jan 2009

Wow !!!

So again the market is down with the news of parliament being prorogued. It was hardly up in the morning by 100 points after 3 down sessions & this news brought it down again by more 100 points…..

Why are they waiting for JAN 2009 to announce a help for the economy ???? Maybe they are waiting for the god to help them & wishing the market to recover by itself so that they don’t have to announce a stimulus package & run into deficit, which they promised they wouldn’t go into during their election campaign. They even went to a limit of selling the assets like CN Tower to make up the balance sheet for not going into deficit.

Or maybe they are waiting for Obama to take the charge on 20th Jan & announce a bailout package for auto sector & other sectors which he has planned.

Every major country in the world including Kazakhstan has announced government aids to stimulus the economy. Why are these conservatives in Canada to much reluctant in providing a helping hand to people suffering the economic storm including the guys who are laid off ??????? I am not talking about giving money to auto-sector or banks. But at-least announce & start some work to improve the infra structure & giving support to the people who are kicked out of their jobs (not only the auto-sector workers only who were earning $30-$40 per hour for 20 years for an ordinary skill work).

I am just wondering & surprised at the same time, why are they waiting for 27th JAN 2009 to come ???????

The markets are erratic - they don't know who's coming and who's going :)
Don't watch the markets, you'll get dizzy.

Maybe because it takes time to prepare a budget, balance all the demands, resources and requirements and come up with something that's sensible, doable and achievable.
I think the opposition is being irresponsible in demanding an economic stimulus package without due diligence.
I expect the govt. to take the necessary time in preparing a good, well-thought out plan rather than rushing something in, like the US did.
I don't think Canada can afford to do what the US did i.e. release $700B into the economy overnight.
The US can do that, we can't.
And even though they did - where are the results?
The US economy is getting worse every day, despite almost a trillion dollars of cash injection.

What makes you think that ordinary people are going to get any money?
There may be some very limited tax relief, but by and large, most households will not see much improvement.
