Eeeew. Do you think those two people need to have more political power than what they have now?? Do you think that having same background, Layton's policies will be a reflection of David Miller's policy?
I haven't gone into detail of Green Party's agenda, but had a brief chat with one of their candidate. Seems too idealistic, and they have yet to get a single seat in Parliament

I feel both India and Canada are passing through similar political scenarios - not a single leader who can unite the entire country.
Just my 2 cents + 2 paise.

Totally agree with you. Stephen Harper has equal number of enemies as much as he has friends. But he does not have any worthy opponent in Liberal party. Ignaiteff is just being brought in to fill the void and gain popular support. Wonder what he will have to say once he becomes the leader officially, and how he will perform in next election (Hopefully after 4 years)
In India, I am surprised by Congress's victory even after recent Bombay terror attack. Seems that that right wing approach of BJP did not appeal voters

My comment did not mean, it was my wish. I am just pointing for an opportunity opening up for these 2 parties to gain some inroads if they have the leadership and skill to do it. Otherwise the void is going to be filled by conservatives.
You are right about the Green party - they are very idealistic, but most of thier agenda was copied by the liberals for the past election. All they need is a good leader - I still remember one of the comments from critics for Elizabeth May after last elections televised english language debates - he compared her to TOFU - nutritious and good for health, but tasteless and bland.
All in all Harper has proved to be more intelligent than all the 4 others combined. By prorouging the parliament, he has got rid of the coalition threat and now there is in-fighting within the Liberals as well. If the elections are called after the budget, Harper stands a better chance at Majority- not that I like it, but the current situation points that way.
All Stephen Dion and the coalition would have required to do was to defeat the Conservatives at the no confidence vote and then declare the coalition - that would have not given any time for Harper to react. Alas, they cannot even think that far (max a week) ahead.
