Let me add my 2 cents.

1. You will need to pass the xam in order to become insurance broker. Some companies provide free books etc for the exam which is not too tough. Hoever the fee can be steep, in Quebec when I cleared it it was $100 or $200. Also you do need to spend quite a bit of time going thru the material.

2. Once you clear the exam whats next????????? Thats what you didn't figure out. You are not hired but retained by a company that may give you a telephone directory and a chair with phone. Then call people and try to sell. You get commission on it. NO SALARY
Dont forget you will need a car and some other expenses to run this kind of operation.

The rules may be slightly different in ontario but I believe this is how it is.

3. You also mentioned in your calculations "If the part time job can bring approx..1300" Please let me know which part time job in Toronto fetches $1300 a month and is available to a new immigrant?

Dear all,

Thanks for replying and adding such valued inputs. Now, let me first clarify, that there is no plan as such to become a broker. I wish to avail some good certification in the insurance industry of Canada before launching myself. Recently I came across CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional), which can be helpfull to approach the insurance companies directly. Moreover I visited few of the job sites and saw what kind of requirements insurance companies are asking for?...and found that CIP, RIBO are in scene. So thought of keeping this enhancements in academic profile.

As far as, 1300 CAD in part time jobs, what I thought, if one works in a call centre or in a store and gets at least 8 CAD per hour. If in a day one works for 5 hours, he/she gets 40 CAD/day. If this happens for 25 days in a month, one gets approx..1000 CAD in a month. Now I have written in my email that we both are coming together. So if we both work like this , we will end up getting approx. 2000 CAD and it would be 1700 CAD after TAX approx. AM I RIGHT? MY PLAN IS TO SETTLE FIRST WITHOUT EXPECTING PROFITS. AS I HAD WRITTEN IN MY FIRST POST, FIRST I WANT TO STUDY THE CONDITIONS, COMPETITION, WEATHER, EDUCTAION..EVERY POSSIBLE FACTOR WHICH WOULD AFFECT THE SETTLEMENT PLAN, THEN AND ONLY LAUNCH FURTHER FOR PROFITS.

So my figure was from two persons working like this. Hey but I was little surprised that no part time job in Canada which even gets 1300 CAD per month??????????????????...

Please throw some more clarity/light on this...This concerns us a lot.
