Even to work voluntarily, you need SIN CARD NO. Still you best bet is go to schools are offer help. They need people to help but I don't know as to whether, they will entertain without SIN CARD.

Hi
Great valuable info provided. I really appreciate your feedback post landing. We are also new to canada and infact would be comimg there in the summer.

As for the appartment, do you have any idea whether Kaneff appartments require this rental insurance or not. Pls. suggest some appartments that you feel are good for new comers. In the area Brampton and Mississauga.

Thanks for the last tip as well -positive attitude.

Anand

I m glad the info was useful for u!

For apartments......I don't know if Kaneff has requirement for home insurance.I stayed in Mourgaurd residence near square one area for about year and half....they are pretty decent to start with. Most of these have a 1 year contract.....so in case you plan to buy a house within one year or you think you might have to move somewhere else, talk to them and before hand.

I never was required to take a rental insurance. By the way, what does rental insurance mean?

Rental insurance is very important to protect u not only from theft, fire in the apartment but from the third party liability. Guess what if someone enters into ur apartment and get hurted by any means (due to slippery etc.), u will be held responsible to pay for that (Sometimes it costs thousands)

Well, I have always had that insurance - but I did not know it is called a rental insurance because I have the same for my owned Apartment/house. Funny it would be called rental insurance even if one owns the house!

No Chandresh,

If you have insurance for your own aptmt/house (owned by you), then it is not rental insurance its a owner's home insurance.Rental insurance is for people who live in rented aptmt/house for protection. And some buildings make it mandatory to have this insurance.

But from the description it seems to be similar insurance - isn't it?
