Mumbai is back to normalcy.
No one breaks the spirit of a Mumbaikar.
I an sure had this happened in Bangalore, Chennai or Delhi, everyone would have been back to normal again.
No one breaks the spirit of an Indian.
However anything is possible where attacks are concerned.
There are 2 sides to this :
1. Is Mumbai safe as before? - viewing just in reference to Terrorist attacks (not petty crime which happens regardless) - I dont expect anything major will happen again for sometime soon. If the politicians and the security agencies have really learnt thier lessons and improved, hope it will never happen again.
2. How to convince your 6 yr old? - its a matter of personal approach, but it is important for him to experience life in India/mumbai first hand to be even able to understand the concept of life in a developing country. I think after watching the other 6 yrs olds in India, he will be able to compare himself with them and understand how the world works differently in different regions - it will be a learning experience. You are the best judge on how to make him feel comfortable and help overcome him fears, since you know him better than others on CD.
Finally, if you do believe in destiny, then we are as safe in Mumbai as much in Toronto or Chicago or Paris... As Investpro mentioned, terror attacks can happen anywhere- anytime, no one can garantee that.
Hope you enjoy your trip.

Fate ! Takdir ! Destiny !
This brilliant little tale by Somerset Maugham seems a good analogy to predestination. This by the way, is the shortest short story ever written.
The Appointment in Samara
By Somerset Maugham
A certain merchant in Baghdad sent his servant to the market to buy some provisions. A little while later, the servant returned looking white in the face. In a trembling voice he said, "Just now in the market place I was jostled by a man in the crowd, and when I turned I saw it was Mr. Death. He looked at me and made a threatening gesture. Please lend me your horse, because I want to go to Samara where Mr. Death will not be able to find me." The merchant agreed and lent the scared man his horse. The servant mounted the horse and rode away as fast as the animal could gallop. Later that day, the merchant went down to the market place and saw Mr. Death standing in the crowd. He approached him and said, "Why did you make a threatening gesture to my servant when you saw him this morning?" "That was not a threatening gesture," said Mr. Death. "It was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Baghdad, because I have an appointment with him tonight in Samara."

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
Hi,
A friend of mine with her two kids travelled to Mumbai from Singapore on 30th (4 days after the attacks). She said the security is very high and everything of her travel was safe and okay. Mumbai is going back on life but people are hurt (emotionally). I don't think travelling should be a problem but try to avoid crowded places once you are in city. Another friend is going to Delhi on 16th Dec and is concerned but security in Delhi is also on very high alert.
Go with your heart and gut feeling as moms’ women sixth senses are very strong, on your place I would have travelled.
Take care...............Jona
