Dear CDs ,
As i am going through this web sites and reading each and every post , i have some questions about Free Medical and Education.
Can any one shed more light on the same , What exactly is Free Medical Care and Education for the same.
Another thing i wanted to ask that how to take money to canada from Gulf ( Draft on self or some other way).

Free Medical - You can visit Dr. for consultation free of charge as many times as you need . One must buy medicines on his own and are quite expensive . If you have job here than mostly medicines are covered through extended medical insurance .
If someone is hospitalised than medicines are covered during the stay regardless of extended coverage .Major/minor surgeries , baby delivery are also free if you have a status .
Free Education - Every kid is eligible for free education till college ( called as school here anyway ) . Public schools are government funded . Individual has an option of private school which might cost you upto 1000 $ /mnth or more . Citizens /PR gets subsidized education after school .
The best way to carry your money is bank draft in on your name . When you land here as PR , u can carry all your money without any tax implications .

This will give you a general idea as to what it is that we receive as free health care in Canada. The Public Education system as provided by provinces and upto what level that you can get it free is provided here and after studying the materials, please make note of the numbers and e-mails to contact if you have any specific questions and get in touch with them in person, after landing here. There are other threads on CD that will give you instructions how to go about getting admissions into schools, answered by a lot of people on this board.

You will see the concentration of the students and how it gets funded and what the current attitude is towards the learning. Generally speaking it is free upto the level of Grade 12, in all regions and it is really good.

Generally people can carry in cash, a sum of $10,000.00 Canadian. The additional sums can be brought in, in the form of a Demand Draft or other instruments that are negotiable. You must declare any and all sums brought in at the time of entry. They normally will issue you a form for declaration on the plane prior to landing. The total sum is for the whole family and it should include all of the monies on all of the people who are on borad with you in your family. You must also carry a list of goods that you are bringing in with you (Accompanying)and the goods to follow with approximate values of the same. All of these are free when you enter.
