Hi,
Can anyone suggest names of Auto Insurers here in the GTA that are not rip-offs?

Sir,

There is a lot of info already on Canadian Desi.

We just have to be a bit diligent and do the search.

Search Insurance, Auto etc and you shall get all the info you want. It is already there in CD. CD is structured so that such searches are easy.

We should avoid cluttering our site with repeat questions.

I apologise if i may have upset you , however just a bit of diligence from all will save unncessary emails and be more meaning ful reading for all.

You could go to the thread and then if you have any new questions , you could ask and I am sure there are CD's willing to give info.

Regards,
Rajiv

Hi Rajiv,
Thanks so much for your reply. In fact, the 1st thing I did was to search for previous threads on this topic. And I must add that they were very helpful though many were somewhat outdated (going back to 2004 !!)
I did forget to mention that I am a new immigrant (1 year now) and I was allowed to appear straightaway for my G test and passed because of my previous driving experience in another country (not India).
So, now I do not have any driving experience (1 year only in Canada) since I am not sure if my previous driving experience has been recorded.
Does a Driving Abstract show driving experience outside of Canada too?

Appreciate your reply,

Angelo

If it is recognised by MTO, then yes.
From what I recall, at one point, they used to recognise previous driving experience from US, Japan and Germany.
The list may have grown now, not sure.
So if you have driving record/abstract from these countries, the MTO will enter your experience starting date as the date from your original country.
That will benefit you when seeking insurance because your years of experience will be more.

Thank you very much for your very kind and thoughtful post.

The good news is that I have just discovered that my previous driving experience has been recorded dating back to 2001, so I understand I get 7 or 8 stars.

The bad news is that Insurance companies see that no Insurance premium payments records exist prior to the year and 2 months I have been paying.

So, its a catch 22 situation !!

And by the way, I am a client of State Farm and shopping around only because they deemed it appropriate to increase my premium after completing 1 year of no-claim, no tickets with them!!!:(
