Yesterday I got half litre Breyer's ice cream, Light, Vanilla, from Loblaw. That was 40% less fat as on the label. Tasted different. When I saw the “nutritional values” and the content, I was surprised. Protein 1 gram per serving. I was a bit puzzled as even the skim milk contains decent amount of protein in it. When I saw the contents, first was “Modified milk products”. I have no clue what it is. Needless to say that I threw the box out.

"Low fat" and "light" ;products will have other fillers often wheat. They are more processed.
Also you will notice most cheaper ice creams are not actually cream, they are Milk based with other products in them.
Its healthier to go to baskin robbins or get haagen daaz. They use real cream so its higher fat, but its got less artificial ingredients in it.
I read labels like crazy. Are you aware there is less sugar in whole milk than skim milk? Its also lower in the GI. etc.

Quote:Yes, that is because "modified milk ingredients" are often just a catch-all term for a variety of dehydrated and processed forms of milk protein.

I saw a program on the food channel that the cheaper icecreams had more air in it so for same liter size box they weighed lesser then expensive ice cream.
From now on i eat the expensive ice cream in smaller amounts.
