icecube,
I forgot to say that Accountants are a much sought after people in USA.
I agree that discrimination is there to a extent (much less than what it is in Canada). For example, a CA can be paid AED 3000 in Dubai and the same person in a multinational can be paid AED 50,000. It all depends on your perseverence. Both the jobs that I listed are easy to find. When the boom was there Pre 2008, you could have got AED 50,000 very easily with a Cdn. passport and USA education. Now you may get AED 20,000 to 30,000 a month (all in UAE). 50,000 AED a month is almost CAD.12,000 a month + you get free everything.
Also as another poster said, if you get jobs in multinationals like QP (an Oil company), then you are in heavan on earth. They will treat you like a king. Imagine having a driver, maid, Peon in office to serve you coffee, a peon to wash your toilet and a peon to remove your office garbage and mop your floor and a peon waiting for your command to do what you wish, all expenses paid by the Govt... That is the beauty of the Middle east for nicely educated people like you.
I would suggest (when the time is right) to make a trip and attend interviews. It is not like Canada. Jobs are in plenty and you can choose what job you will take. However, ME is in recession now and may pick up during the end of 2009 or middle of 2010 for sure.
All the best .
Peace by TK

hello all..
sorry its a late reply ..but just came about this post ...
i do respect all the comments and always respects mr tamilkurvans posts as he always talks real life ... but however in this instant in these posts ....life is not as rosy as you people seem to suppose in dubai.... i have been here for 18 years .......
i dont say canada is great ...as i am not there yet ... but pls dont get illusioned with tax free salary and paid holiday ...... the expenses will kill you here ....
for normal jobs ... just a small example .... a store sales man in my company makes ... dhs 2200/= all inclusive (high compared to market standards.), cannot think of calling his wife and kids ... as he lives in a bed space and pays dhs 800, he lives in a small...very small room sleeps in bunk bed .... with ten people in the room and wakes up 2 hours early than normal to get a chance to use the toilet/shower..... pays 350-400 for food in a mess...... and another 200-300 for other exp.... rests saves and sends to wife in india ... which is all used up there ....
for qualified jobs .. my cousin a CS LLB from india ...got a job paying him 12,500/= a month ... came with family ... wife and a kid .... his exp are as follows.
rent DHS 5500/= a month for a studio apt (really small)
Utility dhs 500
tel internet 500/=
school 1200 (normal school with cbse for grade 1-2)
travel and conveyance dhs 500 (without a car .. with car even more expensive)
Food 1500/= a month.
for one year he saved only dhs 1800- a month.... imagine in a salary of 12,500 (which is almost cdn$ 50000 a year)
and he was lucky he didnt have to pay the very expensive medicals here as none of his family got really sick... once his son had a viral infection and the bill was dhs 700/- ....
so let me tell you the reality ... its not as rosy as it seems .... there are noumroud INDIRECT TAXES which cannot be avoided.....
so please do your research........ real research.....
best
of luck to all... and ... dhs 50,000 jobs ..... very few my friend ... very few .....
kash.

KASH
I think it's the Dubai rents which are a killer...visited last December and when you see the rents which seem to increase every year, it is not much of a rosy deal at all...or is it ?
What to say except, Door ke dhol suhavaney...
did not understand...what do you mean by the above statement ? Sounds like the Dutch language actually...with stuff like 'door'.
