It's 4.00 am the family is up again. REASON: dryness, blocked nose, stuffy, throat, bleeding nose etc.... dont know what to do anymore!!! Any tips?
We have a central furnace, we had a humidifier installed recently and have cranked it up to max to humidifythe house, the person who installed the humidifier told us we need to have our ducts cleaned, OK did that, furnace checked servicing done, nothing else is left. We leave the temp at 22 at night to have a comfy sleep and at times have a block heater in the bedroom if we feel too cold as at times the top floor is not heated. we are ok humiditywise when the blockheater is off but still have dryness of noses in the morning but certain nights it gets too much. How do you all deal with this??? our whole day is full of tiredness and children are crancky due to lackof sleep!!
Any ideas?
Putting a bowl full of water under the bed should help. Try it.

Since you already have a central humidifier, try the following -
- Warm mist room humidifier for your bedroom ($29 - $50 at WMT or CT)
- Drink lots of water during the day to keep your skin hydrated well
- Turn down the central heating temperature. I mean 18 C or less.
- Open windows in the afternoon to let some air in.
- If none of the above quick-fixes work, have a heat-recovery ventilation system installed (HEPA). You can get this at home depot.
This installs with your furnace and is a heat exchange system with outside air.
- If nothing works, you need to move :P

Get a weather station. (http://www2.oregonscientific.com/shop/browse.asp?cid=2&scid=5)
Just the basic one that measures temperature and humidity. $20 to $50 at WM, CT.
You will atleast know if temperature or humidity is the problem.
