Hi,
I got my visa on Aug 30.My dad is the principal applicant.I need to land before may 19.I wanted to decide whether to come to canada with a plan to immigrate or just land now and complete the landing formalities and go back. The reason being very obvious, getting jobs is difficult it seems.I have done my engineering and post graduate diploma in business administration.Iam currently working for a MNC and earn around 35k PM.Iam working since 2 yrs apporoximately. So is it a wise idea to take risk and start everything there else do the job here and I was also thinking in case i continue to work here i.e comeback in 10-20 days,I can plan for doing MBA in Canada starting Fall 2010 by securing admission from here by giving GMAT and stuff from here (like a international student does) and start my life in CANADA with studies in fall 2010 and by the time MBA gets over, probably things should be better of in 2011 end-2012.My brother is already planning to do MS this FALL and he is not coming back after landing in MARCH.My dad will access the situation and come back if it doesnt work out or stay there because he has taken Voluntary retirement a yr back and he doesnt have to leave the job and go,max to max he will come back if he doesnt like. Its only me who has a decent job here and I need to decide abt that because even my brother is not working here and finished his engineering last june and he is already about to get admits from 2-3 universities of canada for fall 2009.Please guide me how should I proceed along.

My suggestion : Stay in India and finish your landing process.

If you want to do MBA, then start preparing for GMAT, TOEFL now and apply to universities after finishing your landing procedure. This way you will save on international student fees.

Try to enter MBA school as early as possible, so that when economy gets better in around 2 years you are ready to get back to work. As of now, it is really difficult to get jobs after finishing MBA.

Hi Vivek901

The number of people who view your post will keep increasing daily.

The mood in Canada is currently one of despondency.

Ash20 has given you very good advice. I hope you take his advice to heart and implement it. All the very best.

Best regards

Lali

Let me start by saying that the whole Family wants to Immigrate and settle down here in Canada.

You have given enough material in your posting with an effort to give us an idea and seek a proper response to the question.

Let me break it down but work with it from a different angle and may be you will come up with a few more tips to us to help you better.

Do you contribute to the family upkeep now? Because your DAD is off on VR, which means totally retired, in my books. He may work as a consultant which we do not know. He must be 55 years, at the least.

If the presence of you two brothers there is not that critical, then the Immigrant Visa that your Father worked for all of you is just for the TWO of you to get settled and be in a better place and in a better country. Not to forget that there is the base there in India for all of you all the time. Both the Parents can fend for themselves as they are in good health. (Otherwise you will not be getting your Immigration to Canada)

You have done your engineering and you do have TWO Good years under your belt and you should know a lot more by now in your field. Not being able to help you there, i will ask you to make a trip to New Delhi and meet with the http://ciip.accc.ca/ people there and get proper guidance in your studies and in your settlement from them. Then get back to us, if there be any more questions to which we can respond.

If your Brother who is doing his MS does not mind the nearness, then you both can be of help to each other here, while one is studying you could be at work. The overhead might drop a little bit too.

After you meet with the people in the link that I have provided, you can work on the avenues that they will provide you with and enlarge upon them while you are here. Also look for a suitable employment here with the same MNC if they do have a branch office here. Or obtain a suitable connection through the men at the top there.

There are numerous ways we can provide you with help. I will have to put myself in your Parents shoes first and then read your outlook from your observations that you have made thus far and delve into the posting here. I still see the doubts that you have from the last few lines of your posting, in which I read the uncertainties that you feel. Hence my questions to you at the start. I can continue with this posting after you make your attempts to resolve a few of the issues there at your end.

I am sure everything will fall in place and you should be on your way here in 2009, which is this year. Put your best foot forward and look beyond the horizon. GO WEST, young man. Or as Russel Peters says, Be a Man.

Good Luck.

Freddie.
