Which browser are you using? and which version?
Does the browser eventually give an error message after a few minutes or does it keep trying indefinetely?

One option is to download firefox and install it. You can download it via ftp since your internet connection is fine...see link below:

Sincere Thankyou to all for their input, as mentioned here, there could be a problem with our antivirus, so we uninstalled it and then net started working. So presently we have no anti virus.

Just curious : what does firefox do ?
