I really want to do some course or maybe even learn something new at home.

I am very interested in Data Warehousing.

But would like to do some Microsoft like ASP / or VB?

Any MS Gurus please guide as to what axactly to go after.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

If you are looking into the data warehousing field, then SAP and Peoplesoft are the packages that most of the firms are implementing these days.

SAP and Peoplesoft can them self be learnt through courses offered by some institutions, but it is advisable that you do it through a company that runs these courses (Siemens is one) and at the end of the course if you show good grasp of the system they MAY offer you something in the field.

As you are aware IT (Information systems) is very much dependent on the market situation and whether a company wants to invest in the field or not.

Ideally speaking a guy with SAP and 3-4 years of experience with one or more of its elements can get around CAD $70,000. But I know couple of people who are finding it difficult to get a job in Canada although they have US experience and at a much higher level.

I am telling you this according to my knowledge, but I may be wrong somewhere.

I am helping one of my friend who had working experience in SAP in India not found any SAP related jobs here in Canada..for almost two years he is still continuing labor job(Although permanent)
I adviced him to do some training and then look for a co op to gain Canadian experience.he recently visited HRDC and informed me that Humber (I probably misspelled it!) college in Toronto conduct similar course with duration 6-8 months with a reasonable fees(less than CDN 10k) and you can apply for OSAP also for the fees
I do agree that getting a SAP job in Canada is not that easy as Canadian employer prefer North American experience with specific industry functional experience + excellent soft skills
If you have a programming background you can buy software to learn ABAP(SAP programming language,very similar to PL/SQL) at home

If you know Java it will be a good deal for you as latest SAP versions will be supported by both ABAP and Java.Once you are confident you can appear for SAP ABAP certification and it will be easier to get a job if you are SAP cerified
