See if you can form a group and open up some thing for your selves. My feeling is that there will be a lot of people with similar jobs waiting to form an alliance and move on in life here and see if you can join them.

You can make an initial appearance and then return back and see how you all can swing it from two continents and improve and make it better for yourselves, that will be a first. You know the project, you know the people and you have the know how. See where you can go with it.

Getting started and succeeding in it is a good thought.

Good Luck to you.

Freddie.

Hi,
We are in the same situation. Has to land this year before October. Thinking of Plan A and B. Hope we are not making a mistake.

Telecom jobs if you are in the right field eg core network or access network are aplently at this time. Big companies are hiring so why not try before moving here. The issuance of new licences has created a good market for telecom jobs even though the economy is gooing down.

Dont leave after landing. Join the university for higher studies. Meanwhile do part time jobs and after finishing you education ou will find new avenues.

Dont worry about your age. In US and Canada peopel go back to school even at 50 years of age

What kind of advice is this for a new comer?

- Not everybody coming from India can afford university tuition fees unless they have a decent job or have enough savings to spend

- How are they going to find a part time job? Especially during these days where even a Canadian university graduate might be ready to accept a McJob?

- Canadian degree does not guarantee a job. Ultimately it is a supply-demand scenario.

- It is not easy to get admission to a university, especially if it is a professional program. Plus you need to spend money and energy to clear TOEFL/GRE

I am not being a pessimistic, but trying to give a realistic picture based on the experience I had after moving to Canada.

Best bet would be to either be ready to go back to India if things do not work out here, or do not have any high expectations except to survive and wait.

This is the best and only advice i will give any new comer to Canada. If you do not have money then beg, borrow or steal from friends or family and work part time in labor jobs but definitely join university or do a professional certification . Then you will have an entry point. dont worry about the economy i have seen 5 downturns in past 25 years. Everyting recovers back.
