Thanks,

:) i know abt 2nd part, i was wondering if part 1 will repeat.

I would say, there is not much you missed by having not watched it....
In my view, it was a poorly researched documentary ... some facts were true, some were not .... some were exaggerated and biased ... all in all an effort to create 'masala' for viewers, and ironically people (other than indians) don't pay attention to facts on india unless those are negetive... producer is smart enough to learn atleast this much from slumdog's success....

I totally agree with vikhr most of the docs shown on India by canadians are extremely poorly researched, biased and show Indians in poor light for most part. I was looking forward to this one thinking it would be different from the others since it was by CBC.Why not show a doc on good students from normal backgrounds who have made it to the US and Canada and are successful in their fields? Not only in the US and Canada but in India and around the world. And people from normal backgrounds who are doing well in the business areas they selected and are helping others to come up as well? What is the point in showing IT biz professional celebrating daughter's wedding (among other nonsense) with 5,000 guests and then contrasting it to watchman saying he has saved Rs 10,000 only for his daughter's wedding after working very hard for 20 years. Did not see the entire 2 hr but do not think you missed much. thx

....

What r u talking abt blorean ? We dont think we feel bad thinking it is abt us ...i think we all feel bad bcos we have a lil patriotism left in us if not a whole lot....

We no longer live there but still belong there....if we dont live with our parents doesnt mean we can listen to anything against them....even if true....

Patriotism...one of the most abused notion. I fully understand you don't have to live in India...but can I ask you what you are doing for your country to make it a better place?

At least the friends that I have here who are white Canadians aren't dumb. They are aware that while the country is on its way to becoming a major force, it has its issues. Just like any other rapidly developing nation.

Media is media. There have been many documentaries highlighting the brighter side. But predominantly they like to "keep it real".

Just watch City TV. The way they report homicides, you think Toronto is the crime capital of this world. But you very well know that's not true...don't you? The crime rate here is miniscule compared to any major US city (http://www.toronto.ca/quality_of_life/safety.htm) (its relatively old data but u get the point?)

Even if I am not doing a single thing to make it a better place still I can feel bad about certain things.

US radio host: Indians are 'slumdogs'

American talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who fashions himself as the new 'face' of the US Republican Party, has been accused of a lot of things: misogynist comments, prejudiced opinion on African Americans, insensitive remarks about the physically disabled and incendiary comments about homosexuals, to name a few.

Now, he's insulting India.

On April 10, while discussing the outsourcing of jobs from America, Limbaugh viciously insulted India and her citizens, inanely referencing the Danny Boyle smash-hit film Slumdog Millionaire to make his point.

"There's a reason [these jobs] aren't coming back. They're outsourced for a reason, an economic reason, and they're not coming back," Limbaugh said, while speaking to a caller named Terry from Ohio. "If you're sitting out waiting for a job that's now being done by a slumdog in India, and you're waiting for that job to be cancelled, for the slumdog to be thrown out of work, and you to get the job, it ain't going to happen. It's not the way economics works."

Apparently Rush missed India's near double-digit annual growth over the last decade. Or that India is being mentioned as a potential viable member of the permanent UN Security Council. Or that India assumed a position of much importance at the recently concluded G20 Summit in London.

Just in case Limbaugh missed the memo: Globalisation is here to stay and India is a rapidly emerging economic superpower. Slumdogs we are not. Deal with it.

But, actually, this rash, unprovoked insult should come as no surprise. The garrulous Limbaugh's long career has been littered with sordid, controversial remarks. Yet, somehow, two decades have seen him develop from fringe shock jock to a mainstream political commentator, all without toning down his rhetoric or compromising on his extreme right-wing views.

Whereas he was once considered a jester in the Conservatives' Court, today he wields tremendous influence inside the mainstream Republican Party. Even national politicians, such as Republican Party leader Michael Steele, have backed down from Rush Limbaugh, rather than face his wrath.

Finally, he's been criticised in the past for his hyper-partisanship and blatant hypocrisy, ie, whatever Republicans do is right and whatever Democrats do is wrong, a critique which came to light again earlier this year. In January, as US President Barack Obama prepared to be sworn in to office, Limbaugh famously uttered, "I hope he fails," setting off a firestorm of controversy. Many in the media pointed out that only two years ago, in 2006, Limbaugh was chastising 'American liberals' for rooting for the failure of George W Bush, calling them traitors.

We can see it already, the 2012 US Presidential Election: Sarah Palin for President and Rush Limbaugh as her running mate.

Oh, Republican Party, the party of Abraham Lincoln, what's become of you?!?
