Dear All
I am new immigrant at Toronto from India. I am CA from India. Had my own practise in India and i am CPA from USA. After a month no job though applied to thousand of jobs at web-sites, went to recruiters personally, called on phone. Now jusat thinking to go back. May good smartian guide me for any suitable job.
Better to leave at the earliest before you loose all the savings.
HI Suba ! I do agree with you partially ... New immigrant can will lose all his savings to REestablish here . Most of us did lost PETTY savings that we brought from back home . Majority of people whom I know who were qualified ,hard working and persistent build it back and are living a very decent life . It does take a lot of time and hard work . Canada is definitely not for short term goal achievement . I lived over a decade abroad before I landed here and believe me initially three years not even a single day passed when we wanted to go back ...
OP may be able to draw conclusion himself ..

Hello Sandeep,
I can relate to you and without telling you what to do let me tell you my story.
My background.
From calcutta St Xaviers- B. COM, CA from India, CPA from USA ( Completed after landing in Canada). Applied for CGA paid $ 800 just to get advanced standing - level 4.
Landed in May 2005. No job, knew no one , lived in a basement $ 700 per month , came with wife and son.
After 2 months ( searching for job, contacting all recruiters etc ) took up a job in a call centre- for 2 months. So now basically i was in Canada for 4 months.
Next got a job as a temp $ 12 per hour in a company doing AR clerical work, within six months got a job as Business Analyst in the same company paying $ 60 K pa.
After 2 years got a job as a Business Manager in a leading telecommunications company. Bought a house 2 years ago, have a new car etc
So if I were in your place just understand this, even in India if you went from Calcutta to say Mumbai or Delhi, would you instantly get a job in one month, I do not think so. Here you are in a totally different environment, you have to give it some time, meanwhile do some part time job to keep you busy.
However you have to prepare yourself for eg as an accountant I would tell you
a. Do all the possible free online courses for Excel - Knowing excel well enough often get's a good entry level accounting position ( given your CA background).
b. Work hard on your resume.- very important - get the free books from the library
c. Connect do networking in places like Happen .ca
d. See what is new in accouonting and position yourself as such eg IFRS is coming in the next 2 years
Please PM me if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Rajiv
You have to market your self,
first try to register with Robert half technology, they may provide you with accounting job 12-15$ per hour.
