As per the website below, the processing time for Parents range from 12 to 17 months from New Delhi.

I received the sponsorship approval in March 2008 and my parents applied for immigration in July 2008 to New Delhi office.
I expect to get the VISA for my parents before the end of this year 2009 as per the current processing time. However, I have a family situation and have to call my parents to Canada in Summer for six months (they have a five year multiple entry visitor visa and visited Canada twice earlier).
Expecting the start of processing anytime from July 2009 to Dec 2009, I am confused!
Can my parents process the application while they are in Canada? If yes, what are the best alternatives?
What about the Medical in Canada?
Do my parents have to be in India to process the application?
Do they have to send the passports to Canadian Embassy in New Delhi?
I would appreciate any help in this regard.
Thank you.

I have no clue as to where you are. When your Parents come down here, take them to one of the Immigrant Help Center and the will do all of the work here in Canada for you.
As a note of thanks, you can take your family and the Parents and a cup of Java to them and say thank you.
AND if you are in Toronto, drop in at the Mississauga Help Center and say 'HELLO' to one Mr. P.Kalra there and tell him that Frediie recommends that place to every one. Ans it is FREE. (Please check Canadian Desi threads)
How's that for service..... You have no problems. All the answers are there...
Good Luck.
Freddie.
Hi Freakoutguy and Freddie,
I really appreciate your reply. Since my parents have to submit the Passport for the stamp and they may not want to risk sending the passport from here to India and back to Canada, one thing is for sure that they have to be in India to clear the paper work. Also the Medical has to be done in India.
I will have to discuss the scenario with them and probably may end up in a shorter trip than anticipated earlier!
And yes, I will certainly touch base with Mr. Kalra to seek advice. Although I am living about 200 Kms north west from Toronto, I frequently go to Toronto (in fact, next week end).
Anyway, once again I really appreciate help from both of you guys.
There was a proposal from the Federal Government to permit people from within Canada, under the circumstances and cases like yours, who will be in Canada, can walk into one of the Immigration Centers within Canada, to get their Passports stamped right here and if it has been finalized or shelved by them, and hence the request to drop in and see him.
That is why I said a visit will be well worth it and they are in the field and they receive all of the latest news as RSS feeds.
Good Luck.
Freddie.
My parents have got there medical cleared and request for passports have been put forward by Delhi office.
However, as they are traveling to Canada ( on visitor visa), I have to send Delhi office passports from Canada. Once they stamp and I get it back, one has to call 1-888 number ( CIC website) and set up an appointment with Immigration officer to get LANDING papers. ( If they have US visa, they can cross the border and come back)
One need not go back to his country of origin.
I had similar problem as no body would have been India to collect letters. So had requested all documentation to be done at my Canada address ( change of address).
Hope this helps !!
