If possible wait till Jan-Feb of next year.. things will have improved by then..
U dont want to look for survival jobs .. they are hard and not suited for most indians who are used to the servant culture i.e having servants do everything for u..
Some time back my wife used to work 5 hrs at tim hortons and she could not handle it..
Security jobs are also very hard to come by because everyone knows they are easy..
Market is really bad.. I know atleast 3 ppl including my wife who have been laidoff.. all have them have canadian exp ..
My employer is laying off 100ppl every month..
GM and chysler are on very of collapse.. even if they survive layoffs are on cards there.. This would mean GTA would lose at least 10000 jobs in the next few months if u include job loses at the parts manufactures.
Need i say more..

I wanted to know (seriously) in one can find jobs in major Canadian cities in today's scenario.I see so many advt and job postings on the net, this Charcha classifieds,
jobs available,etc..
But what is the truth?
The real situation esp.in Toronto, for landed qualified immigrants from India as of today??
Does networking help to get a job esp. with Indian communities, esp thry Canadian desi?
Does a self 'demotion' from your current qualified status to do a lower cadre job helps, work?
What are 'survival jobs in Toronto? Are they still available??
This ISSUE also then focuses on paying attention to net/online opportunities like investments and daily trading in FOREX, the stock exchange, home jobs(online),etc...
I also read about increase in the minimum wages from April09 onwards?
Pl.share your view,suggestions,advice and links....

By all accounts, it seems that the province of Saskatchewan is booming and is dire need of workers.
Their labour dept. is advertising aggressively and recently some folks from the govt. were in Toronto and conducted some job fairs.
It also happens to be the only province still posting postive growth this quarter.
Now I don't know what the reality or fact is - this was all in the news -

It's possible that they are only looking for Canadian educated fresh grads who are willing to accept the salary ranges provided there.
I don't know whether they will be receptive of foreign educated immigrants with previous work experience.
But it's an option for you to maybe look into.
Also note that if you come thru this program, they require a minimum stay in SK for 7 years, I think.
Someone from SK can throw further light on what's the ground reality.

I have same view as “Dudewashmycar”
Agree that ONT is not doing well at recession time but it will come back before others.
For me Toronto is the best place to stay in Canada.
Although, it also depends on the profession as well as the choice ….
SK may be booming but are you going to be ok with limited access to desi community, more snow?
Every place as there pros and cons so one should take decision based on those.
FOR ME TORONTO IS MY FIRST CHOICE ( as far as it concern I found it has all the flavor which I like, HUB of business- so more jobs , mix of different culture- u get almost everything in your choice( food, service, friends…) ,
