- Which brand is good?

- How do you cook it at home if you do not have a BBQ?

- Do you Indianise the burger?

- Are aloo tikki burgers available in desi stores?

We have "Lick's Garden Burgers". It tastes very very good. It is available at Lick's outlets, Loblaws, Walmart supercentre etc...

It is the thickest and juiciest veggie burgers we have had till date in the GTA...

Yves Veggie burgers are good.
For restaurants - Montana's veggie burger is excellent (soy)
Red Robin does a garden patty. KFC does a good soya 'chicken' burger.
you can cook it in a frying pan or griddle (what ever you use to make pancakes on)

We dont indianize burgers.. :)

Unless they changed it recently (within the last few months) when I was in India I ate the 'mcveggie" which I don think is aloo based (it didnt taste like it_.

i always find it funny that indians need to indianize food. However rarely the other way around :) Though recently at a south indian restaurant I was heartened to see a mozarella cheese dosa. very cool.

I love putting cheddar cheese into paranthas. tastes so yumm!

Blame it on our need/habit of spicy food.

I have realised that the spice in food makes your taste buds go numb, so that you cannot discern the flavour/taste that a "non-Indian" tongue can. As a result, most of the non-Indian food tastes bland to an Indian tongue and hence the need to "Indianise" the food. Also, I believe that people here tend to enjoy the raw taste of vegetables, which I can never enjoy.

Especially with the wine, I find it difficult to observe the difference in flavour that are described for each wine. Also, most of the wine are made as an accompaniment with bland food, and hence do not gel with Indian food. As a vegetarian, the only accompaniment that I can think of with wine is cheese (Although both wine and cheese are not vegetarian in strict sense)

Quite true - eating habits are as distinct as culture and the hardest to change -- hence the need to Indianize .. :)

I am quite sure that whites would appreciate Indian food more if it were less spicy .. read non Indianized .

M_R ~ The menu in Indian Mc Donalds and for that reason all major food chains including Pizza Hut is different in India as compared to outside ..... I believe they have the Indianized version .

Reminded about it I recall in the Middle East , to appreciate local customs most of the food chains ... Mc Donald / KFC ... you name it were using halal meat ... I believe they adhere themselves to the local customs .....

I would prefer an aloo tikki to a soy patty any day .. maybe because I am more used to it ... blame it on the indian palate .
