hello cd members
just have a question with regards to my tv
how will it work in india
is it thru a convertor and should i buy it from here or is it available in mumbai`
future shop sales person told me that it will only work in north america as here we have something like pal
but in mumbai we can only play ntsc ,we will see the b&w picture on this tv.
the other future shop guy told me it will work in india if we get converter from pal to ntsc.
i am now confused as one says it will and the other guy says it wont.
please advise
thanks

No it will not work in India, TVs available in North America are desigened for NTSC color system where as in India only PAL color system works. If you buy PAL to NTSC converter and if it work thn picture quality will not be good. so choice is yours

Why you want to pay the custom and other duties pertains to flying your TV to India (even if it plays well there). If you're going back to India and are never returning back to NA, then one choice you have is to sell it at Craigslist and then buy 32" LCD in India.
I was in India a month ago, and trust me - a 32" LCD tv costs as little as 30-40K. India is altogether a different market now. Why hastle then?
... and as a add on (problem), more than PAL or NTSC thing; you will need a voltage converter of required wattage (in India it is 220 V/ 50 hz, whereas here its 110 v/ 60 Hz). I guess performance of some electricals is affected with change in freequency from 50 to 60.

Also, sometimes it may be hard to get parts in India when you go for service/repair of models made outside India.
thanks everyone for your replies but just doing google search and i found out
that nowdays ntsc system tv works fine in india due to the set top box (dish tv with vga ) that the
cablewallahs now have it has a ntsc and a pal system as well ,and tata sky
excels in this area ,any inputs anyone.

I wonder how will you carry this to India. And what is the cost to bring it over? I think irrespective of whether it would work in India or not, try to sell the TV here and buy a new one over there.
Also I would be interested to know how you plan to carry all other household goods. I am trying to figure out the best way to carry my goods.
